Hello all.

Just a quick question. We received packet 4 today and it says we should schedule the medical exam. Here is my question. The interview is scheduled for 18 November at 8:00am. How soon before the interview should we schedule the Exam? Any recommendations?

Scott

I would say 3 to 5 days to make sure the medical results make it to th embassy. In the uk it took 3 days for results to make it to the embassy.

Preferably 5 business days. Or a week before hand I would say. depends on how busy they are. A week usually gives plenty of time to get results and have them forward on the medical results to the embassy.

I would schedule medical exam ASAP! My wife schedule her medical appointment right after submission packet 3 and when we first known about the interview appointment. Just call the medical and they will schedule her in about 10 days prior to her visa interview appointment. The medical results is within 5 days waiting period. Also, they will give you an appointment for medical results.

Thanks for the great advice. She called the hospital and was able to schedule her medical exam for Sunday. :)

I wanted to ask you what Hospital did your wife choose to go to for her exam? My fiancé selected Bumrungrad Hospital. She was told that the exam could cost between 6,500 to 11,000 Baht. I know it really depends on what additional vaccinations and tests they might need to run, but I was curious as to how much your wife might have spent.

She went to the Bumrungrad Hospital. She paid 3,100 Baht for the medical exam then an additional 3,400 Baht for vaccination. The Embassy recently made it more expensive after Oct. 1st due to the addition of more exam (Gonorrhea).

Theres fixed price on embassy website - 3,100 Baht for Bumrungrad

Interestingly, in Chiang Mai it is so much cheaper.

they might ask you to pay extra, if theres issues (no vaccines, false positive TB test etc)

Yeah, I did see that in Packet 4 that is the cost is 3,100 baht, but I am assuming that they think she has not had any vaccinations. Although as ThyJourney mentioned they have since the beginning of October also required a Gonorrhea test be done as well. But Unless there are other problems as you stated, I don't think it will be much more then what packet 3 says.

Just an update. My fiancé completed her Medical Exam. She had her initial appointment on Sunday at 7:00 am (Thai Time) at Bumrungrad. She was very pleased with the environment. She said it felt more like a Hotel than a Hospital. She said the staff was very kind and she felt like she was being taken care of very well the entire time. We were confused with only one thing. While she was visiting with the doctor, he reviewed her vaccine list. He told her that she needed to have the Tdap vaccine. She told him that she had already received it and it was clearly documented on her vaccination book. We weren't sure if this was a series of two, but in any case, she didn't argue and just did the vaccination. As was stated early in the this thread, the exam also requires a test of Gonorrhea. The entire visit took approximately 2 1/2 hours. She was instructed that if there were any problems with the tests, they would call her first thing Monday morning. If she didn't hear from them in the morning, she could come in Monday afternoon and pick up her packet. Everything was just fine and she received her packet. The total cost for her visit which also included the Tdap vaccine and Gonorrhea test was 6,985 baht.

I did hear that BNH is not open on Sunday to schedule appointments. This is why my fiancé selected Bumrungrad. Also, we heard that it takes about 7 days to get results back on the Gonorrhea test there as well. Just something to keep in mind.

Now we are just waiting for the Interview. Hope this was helpful. Good luck to you all.

Scott
