Hello,

I am looking for someone in a similar situation who can help me. I came with a F1 visa last year and married this year, I applied for the green card and I also got my interview date (November 17th). I would have the option to work next year but this would mean that I couldnt take 9 face to face credit (a F1 visa condition) in the spring semester. I am worried that I wont get my green card physically before the next semester starts and my college told me to stay in status until i actually have the green card.

has anyone here broken the F1 visa conditions before you got the green card? Did you get any problems because of this?

TIA

When I submitted al my applications, I was nearing the end of my OPT period. I made sure to keep my school officials up to date with the application process. At the time of my interview, my OPT had already ended, and I was not in school at the moment. What made my situation a little different is that I had together my degree and was working on OPT. During the interview, the immigration officer did ask about my school, I told him I graduated, I told him hat I had my transcripts, as well as a copy of my diploma if he would like to see them, and I also explained that I intended on furthering my education even more in the near future.

If you have a valid reason to drop of out school then you should be fine. I would imagine the only problem occurring if the officer questions your motives for undertaking our course of study.

Infopass Officer told us that once you apply for AOS, your student status doesn't nee to be maintained? you're in a special waiting period. But if green card gets denied, you will be out of status and have to either leave or reapply for all the student stuff again.

if your interview is on November 17th, and you have enough evidence, you will hopefully get approved for the Green Card on the spot, in which case you wouldn't have any problems. I got my physical GC a week after my interview.
