My final destination is in Ohio, but i have a stop over in Minneapolis, as i was reading the packet visa that i am going to bring it with me, says that i need to go to immigration for them to stamp my passport for permanent residence. Canadian airports have pre-clearance. Your profile says 'Vancouver' - are you flying from Vancouver? If so, you will go through US immigration there and hand over the envelope and get your passport stamp there.

It should be in Canada as most flights once they land in most airports, they are technically local flights and exit through the local terminal and there is no immigration. Based on my experience, all immigration was cleared in Canada, on landing you proceed to checked in luggage collection and exit the terminal.
