Hi again,

Have searched all over and don't seem to be able to find a definitive answer to the question....

Should i have attend my medical before completing the DS160?

On the website it says to complete the form, get all supporting documents together, go to your medical and then your interview however, on the DS160 it says do you have proof that vaccines meet the requirements and if you select no (or in fact answer any of the medical questions) that means i am lying because i don't have them yet.

My medical is booked for 14th November and i want the interview to be soon after as i am not 100% how long the visa application lasts before expiring (it says something on the letter that i received from London that the petition is only valid for 4 months from the date of action and then a date next to it that looks like 12/14/2016. I am not too sure what this means.

anyone able to help with either one of these questions?

TIA

Zoe :)

Country-specific thread is moved from the K-1 Process forum to the UK regional forum.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).

No you can complete your DS 160 before your medical as most of us do. They ask if you have proof of the vaccines because you can look up the ones that are required before you attend your medical and they are basically just asking if you have a document from your NHS GP that has all your vaccinations that you can hand to Knightsbride at the medical.

We just filled out Jon's DS-160 last week and we haven't even scheduled his medical yet so that is a non issue. The visa expiration date (as noted in your other thread) is not a huge deal. This is automatically extended at the embassy, but if you want to feel better about it, if your interview is scheduled after your petition date just have your fiance send you a new letter of intent to marry that is dated closer to your interview along with you I-134. That is what we are doing as well. This is a non issue.

The biggest thing is to make sure your interview is at least 5 business days after your medical. This is required and noted specifically on the Embassy website so make sure to schedule it with enough time. This can delay your petition or even cause a denial since you did not follow instructions.

I have now completed the form and booked the medical, paid the fee and scheduled my interview. I now have other concerns but not really sure what to do about them...

I was advised I didn't her tax return as she didn't earn enough on the last one she filed. I was told all I would need was the letter from employer confirming employment and earnings and payslips... I am now being told otherwise and it will be denied if I do not have that tax return. I have also read that as she didn't earn enough on the last tax return that she would need a co sponsor however she now earns above that 125% guideline.

Also I don't know what the medical summary from the GPS should be or say. My doctor probably also won't have a clue what it is supposed to say either. Anyone know?

It's okay if you don't have a tax return. It is usually the preferred method to prove income, but if you recently have a job over the 125% guideline you will need to have copies of recent payslips (6 weeks is recommended) and a letter from the employer stating the salary and that they are gainfully employed by the company and this should be sufficient. Many others have gone to London with just this and had no issues!

You only need a vaccination summary and your GP should definitely know exactly what you are asking for. They just need to give you a print out of all your vaccinations you have had. This will let you know which ones you are missing so that you can get them done before your medical. The medical history is really only needed if you had a history of things like depression so that they can have a history of your treatments and things like that to review. If you are in general in a clean bill of health this information is not needed. The medical does ask you to fill out a medical history form, but that just asks does your family have a history of cancer, stroke, etc. Just like any normal medical history form.

I hope this helps answer your last remaining questions!
