K-1 Guangzhou Stuck in Administrative Processing

Hello,

My fiancé had her interview in Guangzhou, China on September 28th. After her interview she was given a "Final Processing Letter" stating her K visa application had been preliminarily approved, but that she needed to provide a notarized divorce certificate for Petitioner. A copy of the divorce decree was in the original application but the officer stated he couldn't locate it. She provided a copy of the requested document and the embassy acknowledged receipt of it on September 30. The officer told her she would hear back in "a couple of weeks." That was 25 days ago and she hasn't heard anything from the embassy. I wrote the embassy after 2 weeks and received a standard "if we need anything we'll let you know" type of response. Since then I sent her by courier a super-official, original, court-stamped & notarized version of my divorce decree that she has in her possession.

Questions:

1. She provided a copy of the document. They acknowledged receipt of it on 9/30, and told me on 10/17 that they would contact us if they needed anything. If the copy of the divorce decree wasn't acceptable and if they wanted an original from the court, do you think it makes sense that they would have told us this by now?

2. Do you think she should go ahead and send in to the embassy the "official" original version of the divorce decree that I sent to her by courier? Or would this just confuse the embassy and delay things further? Should we keep waiting and see what the embassy communicates?

3. Should we be worried if the interviewing officer told her that she'd hear back in "a couple of weeks" and yet we are coming up on 4 weeks with no word one way or the other from the embassy?

4. Does anyone know if Guangzhou is running slow or anything right now? Anyone else experiencing long delay at Guangzhou for Administrative Processing on a K visa?

Thank you. We filed our K visa application on March 24th so we're getting anxious as you can imagine.

I think you just have to wait it out. It's difficult the wondering and not knowing when, but you just have to let them finish their processing. No you should not be worried. That's just how AP goes. Have you read any thread in the AP forum? That might help.

Did they keep her passport?

Thank you for the reply. After the interview they gave her passport back, but told her to submit it again with the document they requested, which she did. So currently the embassy has her passport.

Ok, well that is good. I can't guarantee but I bet it won't be too much longer. Give them a couple week and email again if you don't see any updates on the ceac tracker
