Hi VisaJourney Community!

Good day! I was just hoping to get y'all's opinion on my situation. I am trying to finalize my Affidavit of Support wherein my husband is the only sponsor. 3 months ago, he was hired as a high school teacher and is now earning 125% above the poverty guideline which satisfies I-864 requirements. However, since he just started working this year, none of his income tax returns reflect that salary. In fact, he only earned $3,000 last year and around that much 2 years prior since he was still a student.

My question is, would a letter from his employer indicating current annual salary and recent pay stubs be enough to strenghten our case and prove that he can support me? Are there other documents we should procure to show as proof? Or should we start looking for a co-sponsor since there might be a chance our petition would be denied?

Thank you so much for all your input and help!!!

Is it three months when you send in the docs, or three months to interview? It will probably be enough, if it is a long term job (not just this school year).

Hi Penguin!

It will be 3 months then when we send in the documents. He plans on teaching in the same school next year if they invite him again. He also has been toying with the idea of applying to schools nearby since his school right now is a 40minute commute. No drastic plans to change career, so he will be teaching for a while.
