TV Show- 90 day Fiance - how do they get away with it?

Six months ago I had to send in our huge ROC packet for my husband's GC. I made sure to show it to everyone in my building, not to gain sympathy, but for them to understand the process that it takes to get just a green card. People ask "but isn't he a citizen because he's married to you?" I politely say no and go through all the steps it took for me to get my husband to this country and all the steps we're still going through to keep him here.

I frequent another forum where the show 90 day fiance was trying to recruit future participants and I went on a rant about how the show simplifies the process. How it's not a 90-day fiance, by the time you're in the USA you have already committed to marrying each other. I refuse to watch that show because I know it would just infuriate me. How come it took me nearly two years to bring my legal husband into the USA after having lived together for three years, and somehow these random couples who are obviously doomed managed to do it in less time? They are the reasons that the process is hard for the rest of us.

I watched bits of the second series and often wondered how Mohammed got his K1 and what evidence was used to prove his and Danielle's bona fide relationship, especially with him coming from Tunisia.

The usual evidence. Honestly, it is really hard not to get a visa eventually unless you've committed a ban-able offense.

Yes, the couple next to me on the plane were making reference to soldiers who brought home brides from Europe and the Far East after the Second World War. Like many people who don't have to deal with immigration, they think things are still like that.

Bad policy is the reason it is hard for the rest of us. With this administration diligently working to retroactively authorize over 10 million people who are in this country illegally - the policy disconnect becomes even more stunning. These illegals have already committed offenses that would make them ineligible for family based immigration. The only vetting they will receive is "have they committed a major crime." Many crimes that would make a family based beneficiary ineligible will be ignored. People here illegally who do not meet the stated criteria are diligently manufacturing evidence to make is seem like they are eligible. USCIS admits enforcement will be essentially impossible. I predict millions more than the headline 11 million number will be retroactively authorized. Look at the experience of the 1985 amnesty.

Exactly. People have always complained about how future generations are getting worse but in the end things stay relatively the same.

We've had warning reminding people not taking baths with your hair dryer and that candles may be flammable for decades.

Personally, I find the line of thinking that the world around you is dumbing down while your own common sense is becoming a rarity to be slightly narcissistic.

Ha Ha! A classic quote. Line 1 should replace "not" with "now." Line 2 should read "...widely distributed and thin as it has always been." Line 3 is absolutely true. Line 4 should finish..."now slowly coming to an end thanks to misplaced immigration policy."

Funny --- I watched 3 or 4 episodes last night (it must have been a catch-up series). It was my first time watching the show and I kept asking myself "WHERE DID THEY GET THESE PEOPLE????"

Was it not blatantly clear Mohamed only cared about staying in the US (no honey please not annulment - I care about you - let's be friends and divorce).

Russia girl - who hasn't learned (yet?) how to cook or clean... spends the day looking at photographers because she wants to be a model. Seriously?

The younger girl who goes to the desert to meet her guy. The day after they get engaged... her "fiancé" is calling her "Lazy" because she is struggling to climb a mountain of sand. He says, "Come on Lazy! OMG I can't believe how unhealthy you are". HELLOOOOOO .. the day after you get engaged this is how a man treats you ... and you accept it??

I have to admit it is my guilty pleasure show of all time. My husband and I were watching it yesterday when Anfisa and Jorge were talking about her wanting a $300.000 ring and she said, "I am reasonable." Literally choked on my drink. I know Australia has a fiance visa and I am sure many more do. Other countries even have a "domestic partner" visa that is for long-term relationships but not contingent on marriage. That is generous. Allowing a way to get married in a country and stay seems normal to me.

Ugh... some idiot at work the other day told me "HEY YOUR FIANCE IS AMERICAN, YOU SHOULD BE ABLE TO JUST MOVE THERE RIGHT AWAY" ... he was questioning my still being in Canada, accusing me of not telling the whole story. Then I see #### like this on TV and it's no wonder people like that make such assumptions.

Ok dude, sheese, it's not that bad of a show,me and my wife watch it and enjoy it...chill out and change the channel...
