Hi,

After reading the USCIS guide on filing the petition (https://travel.state.gov/content/visas/en/immigrate/family/fiance-k-1.html#4), and referring to Visa Journey's guide (http://www.visajourney.com/content/k1guide), I am confused as to what exactly I need to include. According to the USCIS, all that needs to be filed is the I-129F and G-325A, along with the check payment. However, according to Visa Journey's guide, we need:

  • I-129F Form
  • G-325A Form
  • Payment
  • Declaration of how we met
  • Original statements of intent to marry
  • Proof of having met within last 2 years
  • Passport sized photo of US citizen
  • Passport sized photo of alien fiance
  • Copy of birth certificate of US citizen, front and back

It seems like quite a lot to send that isn't even mentioned on the USCIS website. I was under the impression that everything listed above was part of the process from start to finish, not that it was to be sent altogether at the beginning. Do I need to send this all with the original petition forms?

Thank you!

• I-129F Form
  • G-325A Form One for both the Petitioner and Beneficiary.
  • Payment
  • Declaration of how we met This is answered in question 34.a. on the I- 129F form. Some like to include an entire page but it's not necessary. We were approved and didn't submit this.
  • Original statements of intent to marry One for both the Petitioner and Beneficiary.
  • Proof of having met within last 2 years
  • Passport sized photo of US citizen Name written on back, USA sized.
  • Passport sized photo of alien fiance Name written on back, USA sized.
  • Copy of birth certificate of US citizen, front and back

It seems like quite a lot to send that isn't even mentioned on the USCIS website. I was under the impression that everything listed above was part of the process from start to finish, not that it was to be sent altogether at the beginning. Read the instructions on filing the I-129F. There you will find where they ask for additional documents.

It's also suggested that you submit a cover letter and form G-1145.

This will notify you of your NOA via text/e-mail, ahead of receiving your hardcopy in the mail.

Goodluck!

Thank you both so much for your replies. You have cleared up this confusion for me.

It feels like they are providing a recipe where the ingredient list is scattered all over the place.

Thank you Tieary for specifiying in such detail for me. I really appreciate it!
