Can a UK citizen work for a UK company in the US while waiting for his green card?

My guy owns his own IT firm (it's just him). He'd love to do consulting for his old clients in the UK while he waits to get his EAD once we're married.

But even though he's a British subject working for British clients on behalf of a British company, the fact that he'd be on American soil makes this a no-no? (That's what I gather.)

Or is it a yes-yes?

Good point about the taxes. I'm assuming he'll have to pay US taxes on the work he's doing now in the UK (and that he'll get to ask for a refund of his UK taxes once he's over here). But there's nothing to keep him from doing work of this nature, then?

He pays tax on his UK income to the Inland Revenue, he also declares it to IRS and gets a foreign tax credit.

Telecommuting is allowed, not sure what he is doing but from a practical point of view not a problem.
