How long after Visa does Green Card come?

We started the application process in April of 2015 for my Canadian husband to come to the US. He was granted his Visa in May of 2016. His PassPort has the Visa for the United States in it with an issue date of May 9 2016 and it expires on October 14 2016. Then there is a Customs and Border Protection stamp that shows a Class CR1 until May 17 2017.

My question is when does his Green Card arrive and I know that we have to change his status before being here for 2 years. I'm not even sure who to call to ask what the status is of his green card.

Any help??

Thanks tons

~~moved to general immigration with other like topics. Op is not adjusting status. ~~

Did you pay the $165 fee already? Have you checked your elis account?

You should get the physical greencard within three months of having paid the fee.

Hi zuzie!

My husband received his in about 4 weeks after he entered.

I think you can call USCIS or maybe make an appointment at any local office ( just google USCIS (your city) field office) Maybe they sent it and got lost in the mail, unfortunately has happened before.

No point in checking ioe since it'll only be updated once card enters production. Until then, he can do anything with the endorsed i551 stamp.

He won't be changing status after two years.. rather he'll be applying to remove conditions on his green card at the two-year mark.

Ok that makes sense. I just get worried because everything I have read says if you miss that date to change your status you have to start all over again.

Thanks for the input =)
