I don't understand this..I am about to undergo a very complicated surgery on my spine, where they cut under the lungs and heart, and there is about an 80% success rate. I need my husband to be with me as I go through it, and there is no way to get through to USCIS!! This is TOTALLY INHUMANE. Even criminals get better treatment, - they certainly get visitation rights!!!

Have you gotten your senator's office involved? CSC certainly does expedite cases - I would get some help on this.

No. I've heard conflicting viewpoints on this. Most say that senators don't help much anyway, and sometimes such intervention is even regarded unfavorably.

Whether or not USCIS views senate or congressional inquiries one way or another should not matter here. (They cannot deny a legitimate expedite request, for example, just because a senator's office has inquired about the status. It's your right to have them do that and the service centers are very accustomed to it. That's why they have a special fax line for congressional inquiries).

It's true that some senator's offices are not helpful. I contacted two when I was stuck in the IMBRA nightmare and needed help. The first immigration liaison was rude and unhelpful. I called my other senator's office and the person was incredibly helpful and kind. When, down the road, she got very busy and couldn't really respond to my inquiries, I contacted a different location of the first senator's office and got in touch with an amazing guy who pushed and pushed and got my petition through to approval. I would strongly recommend you take the time to download the privacy form on your senator's website and fax it to their office, then call to follow up and get the name and contact information of the person assigned to your case. You are in dire need of help and it is their job to help you. And the service center cannot view anything unfavorably - they can only do their job.

Best of luck.

Thank you so much for your feedback. I will try and do just that. But my senator is Barack Obama! He's got more than enough on his plate to worry about right now :))
