Hey everyone,

I just got back to my Air B&B from my Medical Appointment at Medisys Montreal.

I arrived for my 1pm appointment about 30 minutes early. They started off by asking for my Packet 4 letter, Passport, 5 Passport photos, and my appointment confirmation with the Embassy. Once I handed this all to them, they took photocopies of my passport and all of the other documents and then handed me back everything except my photos (which they keep).

She then have me a clipboard with a questionnaire that asks about all of your medical history including drug use, mental disorders, etc., I was nervous as I was medically treated briefly for depression. I had my doctor write me a letter which I brought to the appointment explaining why I was medically treated and how long I was treated for and to confirm that I am not a harm to myself or others.

Once I filled out the paperwork, I handed it back to the receptionist. After about 5-10 minutes a nurse called me by name and took me into the back to do my height, weight, blood pressure, pulse, blood work, and urine sample. I dropped the urine sample off when I was finished, and then headed back to the lobby to wait. After about another 5 minutes another lady called me into the back to do an X-Ray, she sent me into a stall to take my shirt off and put on a blue gown. Once changed, I went over when she called me and did my chest x-rays (2 images (front and side)). She then sent me back to get changed while she checked the photos. All was good so she sent me on my way with a yellow piece of paper to take to the front desk showing my x-rays were completed. I then waited in the lobby again for about 10 minutes, then the doctor called me by name. I follow him into his office and he got me to remove my shirt and pants (awkward, as we were in a high rise building with floor to ceiling windows with no coverage next to other high rise buildings). He performed the physical examination. Fairly routine, reflexes, etc., and yes he did check private parts haha.

Went through the questionnaire again and I explained the episode of depression and he filled out all of his paperwork and said everything looked great and sent me to the front. The receptionist checked all of the paperwork over and then had me pay a total of 435$CAD

I didn't need any extra vaccines and I was shocked at the total as they told me on the phone it would be 295$ plus tax.

WELL. Apparently the embassy now requires a urine test for ghonorrhea which is an extra 84$ as of October 1st, so ANYONE new going to their appointment will be charged this also. So if you don't need any vaccines be prepared to pay 435$, and more if you need vaccines.

Overall, it went great. I was in and out within an hour. They were all fairly friendly.

Wow, your medical exam sounds completely opposite from mine. I had mine in Toronto, at Dr.Lyndon's office.

I started off with just giving her my vaccine checklist/immunization record, one passport size photo and my passport, nothing else. I met with the doctor shortly after and he spent a couple minutes asking me general questions, asked if I was healthy and said good good good and just kept shuffling through papers. He then instructed me to pay the fee $300.00 and head down to get an xray, bloodwork and urine. No additional costs.

That's strange that it cost more for you in Montreal.

Either way, thought I'd share my experience as well, hope it went well.

Wow I've seen this exact experience a few times in Montreal. But Dr Cheema over in Vancouver seems very similar to Dr. Lyndon's office in Toronto. Also Dr Cheema's office told me the test was $340 + 55 (new urine test) so a total of $395.

I was coming on the forum today to post this exact thing. This is precisely how my medical went today at Medisys Montreal as well. Two points though:

1) The doctor made a point of telling me the glass in his office is mirrored and no one can see inside from the opposite high rises.

2) Did you mix up your 3 and 5 in the total cost? I have my receipt in front of me right now and without any required vaccinations and the additional urine test cost, my total was 453 (452.72 to be exact) taxes in. I was told 340 on the phone so I was a little upset but I didn't need to pay in cash so I was fine. I think they should have called people who booked before the October 1st price change though and at least notified us. That could be significant if you're on a tight budget!

The new test has been announced as required. People can call to inquire themselves to extra costs is probably what they think. I understand both points of view. :/

Wow, I missed this by only a couple of weeks when I went for my own medical. I wonder if it'll be required of me later during the AOS process?

Positive. It was 435$ total, still expensive!!

Tough to say! Can you even use the same Medical though?

Huh. Interesting. I wonder why ours had different costs. I had no extra immunizations or anything.

Here's a pic of the breakdown on my receipt. All identifying information cropped out obviously:

I don't have any personal experience with AOS yet obviously but if I understood all I've read so far correctly you can use your same medical results for AOS if it's done within... a year (I think?) of your medical. I hope someone will step in and correct me if I'm wrong on that one.

(edited for typo and to add photo)
