Fiance Documents After NOA2

We are waiting on NOA2 and its been a couple weeks. Here in a few weeks I will be visiting my fiance in Namibia and would like to bring anything she needs because its so crazy expensive to mail things to her town. My questions are:

1. How long is an i134 good for? Can i fill one out, sign it and date it when i visit her in november and she holds on to that for the interview (assuming the interview will be few months down the road)? This applies to everything she else she needs; can i just bring the things she needs from me?

2. Is there a time limit to respond to or take action when you get an NOA2? I am worried it will arrive/be approved while I am abroad (will be gone for two weeks)

An unrelated question regarding children: my fiance has a son who is 10 and we decided to leave him with his grandparents for a few months so that way we can get a new place and get everything situated here in USA. Does my fiance have to accompany him when he comes over or can i go fetch him?

1. I cannot speak for every embassy. However, the Kingston embassy accepted my I-134 and it was dated a few months prior to his interview date. Take anything she may need just in case.

2. yes the NOA2 will have an expiration date on it. You should at least have completed DS160 and interview date set by that date. The K1 petition does expire. The embassy can extend it but you cannot just sit around for months without them knowing you are actively pursuing it.

3. The child can follow later. Be sure he is listed on the forms and do a K2 to follow.

Also, could you please correct your timeline to the correct country. The default "Armenia" is listed as your consulate.

Also, please complete your profile to include the country.

This way your posts can be place in the appropriate country portal, where others working with the same consulate can respond. Everything from here on for you will be consulate specific.

Have you given immigration a good email ID so if the NOA2 is sent, you can read it from there?

After our NOA1 all other documents were sent to my email / it helps as i got an RFE while in Morocco and was able to get documents from him before i returned saving us a lot of money for mailing and time / it is about $35 to mail a 4 day (overnight they call it) from morocco

Thank you.

Do you know how long I have to do things once i get noa2? I am pretty sure I will be ok but like i said I will be abroad for two weeks and am thinking it will be approved in that that time frame.

As far as the child, yes I am aware of what you say. My questioned pertained to whether or not I can legally accompany him when he comes here or does his mother have to be with him...or is it possible he comes alone with a helper assigned to him by the airline. He is 10. Thanks

An airline attendant is not going to help him get through customs and immigration. I don't believe that minor children are allowed to fly internationally without a family member companion or someone to help them. Not really an immigration question should probably contact the airline you're traveling through.

The NOA2 will have a four month expiration date on it starting from date of approval.

Help with these questions please :

Docs needed to be ready before the interview:

  • -Affidavit of Support from the petitioner. (Is the Form i134 required to have Original signature of petitioner or scanned copy also works?)

  • -Intent to Marry. (Is this required again dated closer to the interview?)
  • -Birth certificate of the beneficiary.(What if I don’t have the original or original doesn’t have my name? Can I show class 10th mark sheet or PAN card as substitute?)
