I have a friend came to USA as a student in 2009. Recently, he married to his wife and want to do adjustment of status. However, when he tried to retrieve his I 94 online, it said not found. What happened to him and how can he get his I 94 info?

2011/09/14:my husband became usc. and sent citizenship certificate to upgrade the petition

2011/11/03:receive hard copy of noa2 ( case category from f2a to cr1)

2011/11/28:receive case number started with guz

2011/11/28:called to nvc to assign my case to montreal, canada

2011/12/28:got new case number started with mtl

2011/12/29：completed ds 261 apply electronic processing

2012/01/03：optin acceptance email received

2012/01/04：IV bill invoiced and paid

2012/01/05:completed ds 260 sent i 864 documents to nvcelectronic

2012/01/11: sent joint sponsor financial documents and civil documents

2012/01/23：CASE COMPLETED @NVC.

2012/03/09:approved finally..

2012/03/12:received my visa.

He is going to have to pay for his I-94. The I-94 has only been electronic since 2013. So since he came in 2009, he wont find it by pulling it up online he needs to apply through USCIS and pay the fees. https://www.uscis.gov/i-102. Good Luck.

It's been electronic already in 2012 because I have arrival and departure dates from 2012 on my I-94

To my knowledge and research as seen below it started in 2013. This excerpt is from the customs and boarder government page.

- CBP began the online version of Form I-94 in April 2013. The positive public response to that streamlining prompted the agency to offer travel histories online as well.

If a traveler has lost a paper form I-94 that was issued prior to the online system and the record is not available online, the traveler can file a Form I-102, Application for Replacement/Initial Non-Immigrant Arrival-Departure Document, with U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services.

Were these visits on the visa waiver program? The I-94W was automated much earlier, starting around 2010.

Presumably he has a passport stamp showing legal entry? A copy of that is enough evidence of legal entry.

I started visiting the US in July 2011 and never received a paper I-94. It was electronic back then too. I haven't tried recently, but when I was filling out my DS-260 in 2014, I accessed my I-94 records for prior visit history and it was all there.

ROC from CR-1 visa (Green Card expiration date was Nov 24th 2016)

 

Link to the evidence I submitted. Be sure to send evidence spanning your entire marriage (especially for K-1) or as far back as you can. Just one or two bank statements will not cut it. I primarily focused on the two years of living here since I came in on a CR-1. If you don't have the fundamentals (i.e. joint accounts/policies), you can explain why in the covering letter. E.g. "While we do not have joint utilities, we both contribute to them from our joint bank account".

 

September 26th 2016: I-751 package sent to CSC

September 28th 2016: Package delivered
September 30th 2016: Check cashed
October 3rd 2016: NOA1 received with receipt date of 09/28/16
November 3rd 2016: Biometrics received with appointment date of 11/14/16.
November 14th 2016: Attended biometrics appointment
October 30th 2017: Infopass appointment to get I-551 stamp
February 26th 2018: I-751 case number (aka the NOA1 receipt number) becomes trackable
March 14th 2018: Submitted service request due to being outside of processing time.

March 15th 2018: ROC approved. 535 days (1 year, 5 months and 17 days)

March 29th 2018: Card being produced

April 4th 2018: Card mailed out

April 6th 2018: Card in hand. Has incorrect "resident since" date. Submitted service request on I-751 case (typographical error on permanent resident card) and an I-90 online.

April 2018 - August 7th 2018: Tons of service requests, emails and now senator involvement to get my corrected green card back because what the heck, USCIS. Also some time in May I sent a letter to Potomac telling them I want to withdraw my I-90 since CSC were handling it.

August 8th 2018: Card in production thanks to the direct involvement of Senator Sherrod Brown's team

August 13th 2018: Card mailed

August 15th 2018: Card in hand with correct date. :joy:

October 31st 2018: Potomac sends out a notice stating they have closed out my I-90 per my request. Yay for no duplicate card drama.
