I emailed Montreal with a question on September 29 and again on October 12. I have not received any response aside from the automated receipts. It only took them three days to approve my DS-160 application though. Does anyone have any experience with contacting them after DS-160 approval?

Also, this was my question:

"Hello,

I am wondering if it is possible to book my immigration interview for early January 2017. I see I can currently only select dates in November 2016.

I also wonder if this is possible as my NOA2 letter says it is only good until December 11, 2016.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Thank you."

I am not moving until March (mostly due to financial reasons) and would rather have my interview in the new year if possible.

How did you email them? Did you use the public inquiry forum? https://ca.usembassy.gov/embassy-consulates/public-inquiry-form/

With that said, you usually can't see anything past one or two months. They only open up interviews a month or two out depending on the month. So if your NOA2 is good until December. Wait until the end of November until your NOA2 date to schedule your appointment. Scheduling it around then should get you a January interview.

Sadly, you can't just pick specific dates when you want them, only dates the embassy allows you to pick. You can only book what they open up, and they don't open up more than a month or two at a time.

I emailed Montreal-IV-DV@state.gov

"If you have questions regarding the documentation needed or are unable to obtain a required document before the date of your interview, please contact us at Montreal-IV-DV@state.gov or http://canada.usvisa-info.com"

Posted

You're welcome. It's possible they won't email you back because there's nothing they can do. If you email asking for an extension, they can give you an extension, but they won't willingly give it to you unless you say "I can not schedule until AFTER my expiration date so I am requesting an extension on my NOA2".

As long as you schedule your interview before your NOA2 date, you're automatically extended.

As for the dates, no one you will get a hold of will be able to secure you a date or help you with that. It's a matter of waiting until Janurary dates open up, which shouldn't be til end of November, early December.

Hello, I was wondering what the outcome of this was. I am in a similar situation and can't seem to find any reliable sources on weather I can book past the validity date on my I-797 (NAO2). I've tried emailing the consulate but have yet to hear back and time is running out for me as well as available dates.

You can book past the validity of the noa2 but you need to have an interview booked before it expires for montreal to automatically extend the validity. Book a date and move it later if you need to. Also note you have 6 months from the medical to move. You do not have to move right away.

I followed Ash.1101's advice and sent an email simply saying "I cannot schedule until after my expiration date so I am requesting an extension on my NOA2" and they said they will extend the petition at the time of my interview and a reminder I need to have a current intent to marry letter.

Thank you! I will do the same. I'd be so lost without the great people on here!
