Hello there folks of visa Journey. I am not sure if I am posting this at the right category, but I will give it a try anyway. Ok, here is my situation. I am a transgender woman, came here to the US on a Fiancee visa with my male partner sponsoring me. We got married 2 years ago, processed my change of status and all the stuff needed. Everything went well until my male partner decided that he is going to transition, meaning he wants to become a female too. So it turned out that he is a transwoman like me which really caught me off guard, something that i did not sign up for. So now, she has decided to have her name and gender marker changed legally. My question is, will this affect my immigration status at all? Because the name in our records is showing her male legal name, but now she has changed it to a female name and gender. Can somebody please advise?

Thank you!

It won't matter at all. I am not sure where you are in the process, but it looks like you will need to file for Removal of Conditions. When you do that (or any other further immigration stuff that involves your spouse) you will need to show proof of legal name change (and I suppose proof of legal gender change). Just make the story clear to help out the adjudicator, show your legal proof of the changes so they know who is who, and that's all. Best of luck.

I would have thought that this would be better in Effects of Major Family Changes on Immigration Benefits forum?
