Hi,

At the risk of sounding message board illiterate, I have a suggestion, could there be a posted explaination on using the search option? I don't know why, but the search at the top of the page doesn't work as well as the one in the forums, but the one in the forums is not as easy for a new user to find. When I was first on here I was very frustrated when I needed to ask easy questions I would rather search. It took me a while to find the forum search. This might cut down on excessive simple questions.

I know I sound blind, but when a new user is on this site(especially one like me that had never participated in a message board before), there is so much to look at it can be overwhelming. A few pointers on the search option would help.

Thanks!

Sue

Sure thing. Can you please explain what parts were not clear on how to use and what you had to discover on your own. I may add it to a site guide for new members :).

Ewok -

I would like to know why the top of page search(never even seen the other one?) can't let you search words like 'AP' or 'EAD'?

Thanks!

Its funny you say that, devilette. I was just telling my fiance about my first day at VJ where I read the 'understanding your visa options' and then the K1 guide - and the only thing I didn't understand was what Advanced Parole was.

That was my first ever post here - to ask what AP was.

Usually search engines require 4 letter words or more to key off, otherwise they throw out too many results.

However, in the Visa FAQ's section there is a definitions and acronyms section showing all the abbreviations that we use. Anyone asking about such things could be guided there. :)

AHEM....look here: http://www.visajourney.com/forums/index.ph...page=definition

:lol::whistle:

When I was ready to file AOS I had lots of EAD/AP questions & not being able to search for it is annoying!

^^ Yeah I know that NOW but I didn't then!

At that time, I tried the search feature before asking the question and apparently the threads that returned still didn't clue me in.

GrenadianCrixexplanation - in the help section you'll see a brief description on the search..

Search Help

Advanced Search & Help <==theres a help link on the Advanced Search Page

There doesn't seem to be a way to load the Advanced Search without first attempting the 'simple' search..But once you're there, you can narrow your search to individual forums etc, to trim the results.

Hmmm, the search has changed since earlier tonight. There used to be an "advanced" link directly under the search box. It's gone!!
