Denied due to domicile despite job offer, daycare enrollment

I am sorry to hear that. I as well live abroad with my husband and our kids. But we got approved on October 3rd.

-We had a joint sponsor that lives in the US

-US bank account

-emails with daycare and school

-letter from our friends that we can stay with them till we get our own place

-Tickets that I visited the State in June

-Filed taxes

-Copy of SSN

They accepted all that. Did not have a valid DL since I have been living in Bosnia for the last 8 years. Good luck.

Gosh this is insane!! I guess i am unlucky. Can i ask you , was your letter from your friend a formal lease? I have only lived in Abu dhabi for 2 years!!!! and did you actually enroll and pay a few at the daycare? Or you just inquired about the day care and asked them questions on what to do to enroll your daughter? Thanks so much

A lot of this is Consulate specific, I know the issues mentioned would not fly in say Canada, I do not know where on the scale UAE is.

Yes very frustrating!

Wow this is amazing!!! We even have many similar things. My layout was just like this too.

So i guess i need to include a receipt from the daycare saying that i have paid the enrollment fee.... and how do i write a formal lease? She just wrote a letter. And she is offering that i live their free. Its my permanent address and i have always lived there. Hehe its funny. Its like asking can i please live in my own home? They are really strange lol! I am gonna drive my parents car. Is it possible to buy a car overseas? Or should i send an email inquiring about a car? Thanks again

I think so! They temporarily denied so many due to the lack of domicile issue... strange.

There are good lease guides online, just look for a really simple one. You might get a car quote and some information about financing it or the savings to prove you can buy it. Or perhaps have your parents write a letter authorizing you to drive their car. Probably doesn't hold any weight, but can't hurt. Are you already on their car insurance?

The only thread like this I can find for the UAE was from 2015 and it was someone talking about a friend and it seemed the CO just wanted them to rent a place. No follow up on that.

This summer this person had some domicile concerns: http://www.visajourney.com/forums/user/116688-proximity/

And I think Roosha was in similar position to you in 2013: http://www.visajourney.com/forums/user/147297-roosha/

Maybe quickly PM them and see if they will respond with what they provided?

Some places don't want intent to establish domicile, some want a physical place for you to move into, they don't want you to hotel hop when you get back into the US, they want you to fly in and go into a home that's already waiting for you.

Each consulate differs, but like what was said about Canada, generally if you don't have a place to live in the US by the time of the interview, you don't have enough domicile for them. A lot of USC's in Canada in that case end up moving about two months prior to the interview to be able to send the apartment/house lease to their spouse as a "see, we have a home!".

Saddly, each consulate is different, and each CO is even more different. =[.

I received my interview schedule from the US Embassy last week and they asked for evidence of domicile eventhough my husband has already been back in the US since January this year that's why I emailed them asking on what to present in that case. They responded two work days later saying that it could be utility bills, lease agreement, driver's license, school registrations, etc. I'm not so sure if UAE and Kuwait could really be that different.

Thanks for your reply!!! Gosh this is ridiculous

The thing i am concerned about is, how much time do i need to be back home in order for them to believe us??! My husbands medical exam expires in April. I cant leave til December. I will not buy or rent anything because we will live with my parents for a few months. I will send insurance coverage for me and my daughter (health) pwy stubs from my job, daycare that my daughter is actively enrolled in and a car that i will be buying when i return. If i send this all to my husband by January, will this be fine??? Will i need to wait longer to send them??

Oh and as a side note, I hope ya'll do get to live in Mansfield, Tx. My sister and her family live there and it's absolutely wonderful the times I've visited. That'll be a great place for your family when you get in!

Yes i love mansfield. So safe and calm. My parents live there and i lived there before i moved to the uae. Missing home so much!

Suzy, I'm so sorry for your struggle!

But thank you for reaching out.... I'm now following your lead to get more domicile evidence like I'm having my sister make up a lease, getting the car and insurance in my name, and getting a receipt for childcare enrollment.

Best wishes to you❤️

Hi Jordache!!! I know it's really tough. I have now gathered the daycare enrollment fee with the emails between me and the director on the steps and filled out application form, i also have emails between me and a car company inquiring about purchasing a used car, will buy my one way ticket, cancel my credit card, and include my research on what health insurance i will enroll me and my daughter in upon my arrival.

These are also really good ideas for you to show them. I hope for the best this time. I am really confident this time around we will be approved and i will finally go HOME!!! feeling positive.
