Coming to US on passport and after vacation on K1 Visa?

Tell your friend to just marry quickly (civil ceremony at the courthouse) when they arrive in US.. apply for AOS and request permission to leave for vacation. After the vacation they can have the big wedding ceremony.

Not in this case. In this case, they have the Vacation planned next month, in a couple of weeks.

Now, yes, once they have the AP after the AOS process they can go on vacation, but it doesn't sound like they want to change their plans. This would push their plans back a minimum of 3 months.

Also note that it usually takes a couple of weeks minimum for you to get your passport back. And K-1 is single entry only, once you use it, it's done.

The best bet is to either go straight from Germany to JA and then to the US, but you won't be able to do Germany to US to JA to US. You'll be fine Germany > US > JA, but when you try to enter again in America, you'll most likely not be allowed back in as your single use visa has been used and you have no grounds to enter the country anymore.

Update for everyone who thought it's not possible, it all worked out as she planned. She got her K1 Visa, came to the US on her passport (Germany doesn't need a Visa to enter the US), stayed a few weeks, went on her trip to Jamaica and used her K1 Visa when she returned to the US.

I also entered the US by air using my Nexus card (from Canada) and asked the officer to let me in on a B2 instead of my K1 just for the weekend, as I had to return to Canada to close up accounts etc. He was nice, seemed confused, but asked another agent who said it was fine.

I asked the consulate after my interview if I could do it, and I also asked the agents at the Nexus office and everyone said it should be fine, but at the end of the day, it is up to the agent inspecting you when you cross. As long as they let you enter as a tourist it doesn't get input into the system that you have the K1 in your passport.

Obviously I wouldn't recommend this for everyone, and speak as a Canadian with Nexus who enjoys much less scrutiny at the border.

I'm glad it worked out for her. Did they marry b4 going? If so, that confuses me...cus then she'd be married before using the K1 :P
