I will be in Vietnam to attend the interview with my fiancé next month.

My question is, I heard they use EMS courier to mail the visa, does my fiancé have to be home to sign for it? Or can her relative sign on her behalf?

Not sure what the guidelines for the EMS service entails

Thank you in advance!

I was just reading about this the other day, and now I can't find it. What I read is that the person who will be signing for the delivery needs to have a letter signed by the visa applicant stating that the applicant gives permission for the other person to receive the delivery. It also said the person signing needs to have a photocopy of their ID as well. Since they could just show the courier their ID, it sounds to me like the courier takes the photocopy as documentation for who received delivery.

I wish I had noted where I found this information. I'm in the same situation. My wife's sister will likely be the person to sign for my wife, so I want to make sure we're doing it right too. My wife keeps saying it's fine, it doesn't matter, it's Vietnam. But the consulate could have a policy/contract for these deliveries to make sure they are always properly signed for. Who knows.

Good luck.

I was there about two weeks ago. When you're approved, they hold onto the your spouse passport. So the first thing to do entering the consulate is they make you fill out this half sheet both side regarding their passport info. When you know you're approved, one of the greeter will ask if you're approve before exiting. The greeter will make you fill out another form. Mostly copying what you had on the half sheet. They'll ask for another contact with their name and telephone number. My wife was able to receive it but I'm assuming if they couldn't contact her, they would have contact the alternative person.

My wife listed her sister on the EMS form at the consulate as an approved person to receive the packet. It was delivered to her sister without my wife present with no problems.
