You can print, but note that a photo is NOT proof that you met in the last two years, only that you met. Unless you are holding up a newspaper together or something. Still good for proof of relationship though.

A question on this point. I will be visiting my partner, hopefully fiance, shortly when I plan to pop the question. We will obviously be taking many pictures together while I'm on this trip, which will be our second meeting, some of which I will use as proof of our ongoing relationship. Would it be strange if we were to take a photo of us together with a newspaper clearly showing the date as proof of having met in the last two years? Do you think a CO might find this to be an odd photo or would it be considered very good proof? Thanks!

Since you are planning ahead you can show better proof like passport stamps or boarding passes. But if you think it's funny or want to do it for whatever reason, go ahead.

You can also visit places like a zoo or amusement park or something like that, where you can take pictures of the two of you with a background that shows exactly where you are. And then also add the tickets to that place in the package, the tickets will show the dates you were there, and the photos will show that you were actually there together.

Me and my fiancé did that when we went to Seaworld and San Diego Zoo. We took photos of us together with the Seaworld sign in the background and the same at the zoo. And then we provided the tickets that showed date and time.

WHOA WAIT THE HELL A MINUTE

Are you saying - that out of my 150 photos of us meeting in Macau, Hong Kong, and in the PHilippines - all of them are invalid because Im not holding up a newspaper?!?!

I have dinner receipts

Visa receipts

Grocery shopping receipts

Every receipt of any kind was done - all with date and time on them

I think you've answered your own question. Photos don't prove date, unless they feature a date in them (I had one of us from a tourist attraction with the attractions graphics and date printed on it).

Photos together with receipts etc can combine to be good evidence, especially if (eg) the pictures show a recognizable location, and the receipts back up that you were both there at a certain time/date.

How would that prove they met in the last 2 years?

If the ring receipt is dated last year, and she's pictured wearing it, that kind of suggests that the picture was taken last year (at the earliest)?

The best approach is to provide as much evidence as possible that you met within 2 years. So a mixture of (eg)

  • photos (especially if dates are shown)
  • airline tickets, boarding passes
  • passport stamps
  • receipts, bank statements, credit card statements etc
  • car rental document, with both as named drivers if possible

Very few of these alone PROVE absolutely that you met (might have both been in same city at same time but never met) but in combination they do show its very likely. Eg I could show several trips to Wilmington NC (where my wife lived) over 2 years, with no other US trips. If those trips weren't to see my now wife, then there is little other explanation for them.

I'd guess that if you've made (and can document) several trips, things are even better. I'd imagine any fraudulent attempt to show a meeting within 2 years would probably focus on one meeting.

That still does not prove they met in person. I can buy and send anyone a ring. They can take a picture wearing it. I still never met them face-to-face. A ring receipt and a photo of them wearing a ring does not prove meeting in person.

Plus it is impossible to verify that the ring in the picture is in fact the ring on the receipt. Not proof of meeting at all.
