Hello community. Me (US Citizen) and my husband (Spanish citizen) currently live and work in Guiyang China and are in the process of doing DCF via Guangzhou. We are preparing everything now for the interview. My husband lived in Amsterdam and already has a police certificate from there. He has a Dutch friend in Europe that can do the translation of the document. Most likely, the translation certificate with his signature will be e-mailed to one of us since we are so far from each other. Will this be a problem, or does the certificate have to have an original, uncopied signature on it? Thank you!

We used an emailed copy, and it was accepted by our embassy.

As a side note, you may want to check if you are required to have it completed by a certified translator. My fiancé is fluent in both languages, and several friends, but we were instructed to have it by a certified translator. I was able to find some services online with 24-48 turnaround time.

I just retread your post. Is this for his VOG (police certificate of good conduct)? If that was obtained in The Netherlands, no translation is required. There is a blurb at the bottom in English explaining the paper.

Yes this is for the VOG. I know the blurb you're talking about at the bottom of the page. I was just unsure if that would qualify as a translation. As long as the blurb is, it's only two sentences. All the stuff written in Dutch is five or six sentences. If you believe no translation is required and the blurb is enough, maybe I'll do the same thing.

For the I-130 process, I had some stuff written in Spanish and I translated it and wrote a certification letter and signed it myself. Maybe in Guangzhou if my friend was to translate it and e-mail the translation and certification to me, maybe that'll be fine too. Thanks for the reply!

The blurb was enough for us, but then again we were at the embassy in Amsterdam. I certainly don't want to give you bad advice!

I wish we would've been so lucky to have been able to translate ourselves. They charged $23 per page!!

Best of luck to you!
