Fastest way to get Emergency Visa to go see critically ill senior mother in ICU in USA (merged)

Im very sad to announce that my visa was rejected, my heart is shattered to million pieces, I wasn't asked for any documents and the interview lasted merely a few seconds and the CO said I'm sorry I hope your mother gets better but at this time we can't issue a visa for you, I couldn't even question as I was crying.

As I got out of the embassy and turned on my phone I was informed that my mother has just passed away in the ICU I felt like the earth and sky have shattered into a million pieces and I am going to be drowned, I wanted to run back to the embassy and beg the counselor to please let me go for her funeral so I could see her face one last time.

Please tell me if I should apply again with new evidence of her death and what will my chances be? I am so lost and nervous that I truly don't know what is the right step for me at this time.

So sorry to hear this tragic news, Alisha. It's such a shame you weren't granted the visa. I'm so sorry about the loss of your mom.

The same thing happened to my husband at the interview....didn't ask to see any further documents, just rejected within a matter of seconds. It happens to a lot of people, you're not alone. It's just awful yours happened at such a sad time in your life. You can always try to re-apply and see what happens...none of can say what the answer will be. If you have the funds, I think it's worth trying another time. Better try and feel like you made all efforts you could than be left with the uncertainty of not knowing. Hope you'll be able to get through these difficult times.

You can try again but the reason you need to go is not a factor in determining whether you are eligible for a visa. What matters is your ties to home, or the proof that you will be coming back.

This is beyond my level of understanding, I have no whatsoever intent to immigrate not at all especially in these circumstances. I wish the CO had looked at the fact the my sister o has been a USC for past 15 years did not file a petition for me was enough evidence that me or my family do not intend to immigrate.

I am so heartbroken, yes I do Wish to apply again but I'm afraid they will not see my supporting documents again just like they didn't even bother to take a glimpse this time.

Docs are not looked at 99% of the time.

You're going against a trend where a good number of young female (and male) visitors from your country forget to return home. If reapplied, the primary reason for your wanting to go in the first place is no longer an option.

Because of all the times when people HAVE left husbands/wives and children behind to illegally immigrate to the US with the plan to send for those family members at a later date.

Even people divorcing spouses back home, scamming a USC in to marrying them for a greencard, then leaving the USC and remarrying the former spouse.

After many years reading these forums I don't think there is any limit to what some people will do to get their "American Dream"

Unfortunately this means that many innocent people suffer because of the actions of selfish people before them.

This is beyond my level of understanding, I have no whatsoever intent to immigrate not at all especially in these circumstances. Unfortunately for you, US law demands that ALL tourist visa applicants are considered to be potential illegal immigrants unless they can prove that they aren't.

The officers don't really have a choice, if they have any doubts about you returning home then the law says they HAVE to deny your visa.

Her only "tie" was having a boyfriend in her home country.

Someone else could go in to the interview in complete innocence but appearing uneasy and jumpy and be denied.

I could imagine that Alisha probably attended her interview understandably distressed by her mothers situation and desperate to be able to see her.

While common sense would tell you this is the way you'd expect someone to behave, to a suspicious CO it could just look like desperation to get to the US.

The B-1/B-2 system needs an overhaul to reduce abuse of the system and allow more approvals.

Or at least an even playing field rather than just how a guy behind a desk is feeling that day.

Exactly. I don't understand why they don't invent a short-term visitor visa that has no possibility for adjustment of status. France's visas work that way. If you want to switch from any type of visa in France to another one, you are required to go back to your home country in order to do so. If such a limited visa were created, it would certainly be useful to people in distressed/emergency situations.

I guess a lot of angry bleeding hearts would wring their hands and scream about that kind of visa being "mean and unfair" by forcing people to go back to their home country in order to get a new visa, so instead we have the system where once you're approved, you also get some rights with it, or they just simply deny you and you get nothing. I really don't know why the current system is the way it is, but It definitely needs an overhaul.

Well, they need to invent another way of dealing with that inside the country. I've known people who "forgot to go home" on student visas, on the VWP and just were able to live in the US freely because they were never checked or found out by anyone....they just simply worked illegally/under the table and never traveled by airplane or crossed any borders. I blame our government for not keeping better tabs on people. I mean, I don't want to live in a Big Brother society where everyone is being watched, but it's insane that innocent people are getting punished/barred entry due to a bunch of non-accounts who overstay/abuse their visas.
