Question on proving bona fide relationship

Hello all,

My name is Tyler and I met my fiancé while serving in the Navy in Japan. At the time she lived in Osaka and I lived in Yokosuka which is roughly eight hours apart by train. I was thrilled when she received a job offer in Tokyo which she accepted, but she had a lot of difficulty finding a place to live. I allowed my fiancé to stay with me while the lease was in my name for 10 months. She listed my home as her residence on her residence card.

I am now out of the Navy after serving my four year obligation. I am currently in Japan on my second 90 day visa and am staying with my girlfriend in her house that is in her name. I help her pay rent and utilities and my name is on the bill going to the address in some bills like the internet bill. I have been unable to find any sponsorship for a work visa in Japan and have decided to eventually leave Japan.

In both situations listed above, we were technically not supposed to be living with each other. My lease with the Japanese only wanted me to live in the three bedroom house by myself. My girlfriend's current lease is written the same way. Should we provide the documentation showing that she lived with me and I with her over our 1.5 year relationship or would it hurt my fiance's chance of getting her K1 Visa approved?

yes absolutely; USCIS cares far more about you living together, than about some technicality on a lease.
