I'm starting this post to find out similar people who are moving to Orlando or who are all ready in Orlando and your experiences eg

1/ where in Orlando are you based

2/ what do you plan to do for work or have you found work already

3/ what do you enjoy about Orlando

4/ what you don't like about Orlando

Your welcome to add to things that you may find of any interest.

Maybe one day we could all meet up in the future, I'm sure there would be plenty of things to talk about as we are all in the same position and have fun at the same time.

Any suggestions welcomed, please post

Thanks for your time

Im moving to Orlando on the 4th may 07, i know i wont be work for about 3 months, so lisa has a few jobs for me to do liike tidy up the back yard, decorate the house so it feels more like our home than her home, plus she has a little dog and a parrot to keep me company while she will be at work .

We will me living near the Metro West area, close to Universal studios.

As for a job, im looking maybe to work at Disney World as lisa works there, it would be ok untill i can find something that pays better, maybe could look into get work on a golf course, ive been working in Casino for 14 years in london and for the last two years ive been doing garden maintanace.

I love Orlando there is so much to do, the weather is great, you have the eats coast and the west close only a short drive away

The one thing that is quite bad about Orlando is the crime rate, but i guess you get that everywhere

It would be nice to meet up one day just to keep in touch with what is going on with one another, like how far are they down the road are they in there AOS etc any problems we could get in touch with one another for advice.

I would also like to welcome people from TAMPA to get in touch as it is not that far from Orlando

Hi everybody. I'm just outside of Orlando.... in Lake County. I'm also from England, but immigrated to Canada with my parents. Does this qualify me to be a part of the Brit gang? :)

I love it here in Florida, but it's taking quite a while to find the type of grocery items I'm used to getting in Canada. For some reason butcher shops, fish mongers, and fruit and vegetable markets are very few and far between. :( Very difficult to find British and Canadian food items but I actually found real British Cadbury chocolates at the World Market, including Maltesers!!!

If there's anything you can't live without, Spence, I recommend you bring it with you!

Thanks Spence.

When my sister was visiting from England in February, I had her bring a TON of food items with her. The last time I was over there, I had to pay $140 extra in baggage weight from all the grocery shopping I had done!! Note to self.... leave the canned foods items on the shelf.

Too many tourists...and other than the tourist stuff, it's pretty boring. Prefer Tampa or Miami much more.

Then again, there's not much I like about the state of FL, either.

lol. i kinda feel the same way about Orlando, although at this point Tampa is kinda - how to say... getting worse for wear? I just feel Orlando is very congested. I have a preference for Naples :D

Oh yeah, I meant as far as the bigger cities goes. I like Sarasota (city but doesn't feel like one?) and some of the more "country" places I guess. LOVE Key West. I couldn't really live in Miami, so the St Pete/Tampa area is okay. St Pete is really pissing me off though with 375 (I know you're probably more familiar with if not in Tampa, but...) being closed because of the fires from that tractor trailer overturning. Now I have to go out of my way to get half of the places I usually go...but I'm moving to Clearwater soon ... and even though it's congested there, at least the beaches are nicer than St Pete.

To be totally honest, I miss the North a little bit...so who knows where we'll end up.

i think most parts of Clearwater are lovely, but yes, its still very congested. I am also from the north and feel like, this is just a stopping point (although I have been here for 7 years now!!!). I am not a big fan of the country like places here in FL being a green from the north. I just feel out of place :innocent: .

oh and we are going to Sarasota for the weekend!:dance::dance: It IS lovely down there.

I hope it is just a stopping point...my husbands wants to go to CT, my family is from NY so it would work out nicely.

I like the country like places because they remind me of where I'm from...wouldn't want to LIVE there, but nice to visit.

I'm so jealous of your trip to Sarasota...I might go to the Lowry Zoo! :)
