Hi, would just like to say thank you in advance for those of you who are going to read & answer :)

Here's our current situation:

So my husband has petitioned my mother-in-law to come to the US as a permanent resident. Now, she'd like to bring all her other kids to the US too. The two kids, no problem as they are still unmarried. Her daughter though, is married, over 21, and also has two kids. BUT, she is in the process of filing for a divorce and they have been separated for quite some time now.

My question is, is it still possible for my mother-in-law to petition her married daughter with two kids once her divorce has been finalized? Since she'll technically be "unmarried" after.

Also, how long does it usually take for visas to get issued and finalized from start to finish before children (over 21, but unmarried) of permanent residents can travel to the States?

Thanks again to all who will respond.

Yes she can file once her daughter is single again.

Waiting time for f2b Philippines is 10 years.

@apple21, What does f2b mean? I'm really new at this whole process.

F2B is the visa category for unmarried sons and daughters of permanent residents.

Timeline in brief:

Married: September 27, 2014

I-130 filed: February 5, 2016

NOA1: February 8, 2016 Nebraska

NOA2: July 21, 2016

Interview: December 6, 2016 London

POE: December 19, 2016 Las Vegas

N-400 filed: September 30, 2019

Interview: March 22, 2021 Seattle

Oath: March 22, 2021 COVID-style same-day oath

Now a US citizen!

No, it's 10 years and increasing all the time. Realistically they could be looking at closer to 15 years. And they have to stay unmarried for the duration of the wait.

It depends on the movement of the visa bulletin but its a hit or miss at 10 years. I know coz my husband was also petitioned by his dad thru f2b.

Wow! So 10 years?! I didn't realize it would ever take that long. I was thinking 2-4 years tops. :(

Fast route? Find them US citizen boyfriends/girlfriends. Hehehe.
