If I was running a store I wouldn't accept anything back without a receipt. Plus there is a way around not having a receipt.

 I was gonna say, I'm frankly amazed they allow returns without receipt at all.

Ditto that I agree

I agree as well. I think in the US, we're a tad bit spoiled when it comes to returning store bought items. IMHO.

At the local Target here in NJ you get "black listed" if you return things numerous times without a receipt. (I keep mine). Anyway...do you know why they instituted this policy? (my friend is a manager at a local Target) Because people were shoplifting items....and then returning them to the store saying they got them as a gift or lost the receipt...and they would get store credit! How about that?

A couple months ago I was in target and bought some stuff. I get to my car and I find several pairs of old woman panties in my bag. I look at my receipt and they charged me for them. I went back in and I was in line behind an apparent chronic returner. She had about 10 items in several different bags with several receipts. The thing is she wasn't returning everything, just a few things. She spent time shuffling stuff around. So annoying.

"The fact that we are here today to debate raising America’s debt limit is a sign of leadership failure. It is a sign that the U.S. Government can’t pay its own bills. It is a sign that we now depend on ongoing financial assistance from foreign countries to finance our Government’s reckless fiscal policies."

Many stores in Brazil won't even take stuff back at all. Some items can't even be exchanged for others, and if something is on sale, then completely forget it. You take it, you keep it.

nessa was telling me the same thing - sounds like brazil is where the customer is always wrong :D
