Hey everybody. I applied for my EAD on Dec. 8, 2005 and got NOA 1 from December 19, 2005. WEll, 90 days are over on Sunday and I haven't heard anything from the folks at USCIS or the National Benefits Center since the last touch in January. According to their timeline they are processing applications from January 2006. I tried to call the information line but I cannot get anybody on the phone there, it is all computer generated and speaking to a customer representative is not even an option, unless you wanna change your address.

What can I do now? The problem is that my home of record is TX and my husband and I currently live in NC. We gave the USCIS the TX address to avoid further I 865 and AR 11 every time he gets orders to a new duty station. Here in NC the nearest office would be Charlotte, which is a whopping 6 hours away. What can I do? Write a letter or something?

Thanks for your help.

So there is no other way than going to Charlotte. I mean it is a 6 hour trip and I don't have a car. My husband is in the military and cannot just take a day off to take me up there. Do they schedule appointments in the office that is the closest to your home or the closest one in the State you live. Cause maybe I could go up to Norfolk, VA, that would only be four hours in a car.

We are waiting for my husband's EAD which is coming up on 90 days as well so they ARE still processing some apps that they received in December. HOWEVER, are you still able to get mail at your old address? If you are not able to and put in an address forward request with the post office, they cannot forward mail from USCIS to your new address. Since the online system isn't very reliable, it's very possible that you wouldn't see the approval online. If you are relying on the EAD card to be forwarded to your new address by the post office, I would definitely call the 1-800 number and get through to an actual immigration officer (not the telemarketing idiots that answer the phones) and see if you can find out for sure if the EAD is still in processing or if it has been approved already. Good luck

Yes we did put in a forwarding request with the usps and I also called USCIS and changed my address there. My husband filled out the I 865 and I did the AR 11. How much more documentation do they need to understand that I do not live there anymore. My mother in law receives all the mail and she did get a confirmation letter on the change of address in December, so I hope that all the mail does go to TX now.

The problem with the information line is that I press all the numbers and then the voice says that, if I have questions about the status of my application, to press 6. If I do that, this voice wants me to enter the NOA numbers and then tells me exactly the same as the status I see online on my computer. I cannot get to any representative. I don't know what to do and I guess I just go ahead and schedule an infopass appointment.

EDIT. And another problem. I didn't even have biometrics yet or anything. Do I have to have that when I schedule an infopass or do they take biometrics there?

I'm not sure if you can go to the Norfolk, VA DO to get a temporary EAD. They will probably direct you to the Charlotte DO as you are under the latter's jurisdiction. I'm sorry that you're quite a distance from Charlotte but that's probably the only way you can get a temporary EAD.

I finally made it and am on the phone in line to speak with a representative. I don't believe it. After only three hours I might eventually get some information about my case.
