Apparently we all thought "oh you get chicken pox or the vaccine and you never get shingles" which was wrong. So all adults should get the shingles vaccine.

No you're confusing it the saying is "if you get chicken pox you only get it once". and then that is not accurate either. Shingles can only happen if you have had chicken pox or the vaccine. It's the virus/vaccine wearing off that triggers shingles.

Actually because of the vaccine more and more young kids are getting shingles. The vaccine doesn't give you the same protection for chicken pox either, many kids are getting them even after two shots. (they more recently started a booster because of this)

The shingles vaccine is also not offered to ppl under 65 and it's not by most insurance. (most still think it's for the elderly only)

Before the vaccine kids got chicken pox. Because parents are being re exposed to the chicken pox virus they get a booster. That booster from the actual virus protects them from shingles for another 20+ years. That is why the shingles vaccine was recommended at 65.

They either need to add a few more chicken pox boosters to the vaccination list for adults or lower and cover the shingles vaccine. The vaccine does you no good after you get shingles, but many doctors will tell you otherwise. They don't read the vaccine pamphlets.

Before the vaccine kids got chicken pox. Because parents are being re exposed to the chicken pox virus they get a booster. That booster from the actual virus protects them from shingles for another 20+ years. That is why the shingles vaccine was recommended at 65.

This. I've heard there are a lot more cases of shingles of people in their 30s now because they are no longer getting exposed to the virus in day to day life. I was touching my husband's shingles with my bare hands over the course of several days before I realized what it was, so I should be all good for a while. :rofl:

Yes a lot of teens are breaking out. My niece was 14 and she had it so bad. That is when I started looking into it. As my kids all had chicken pox. Also why they added a booster for chicken pox at 5 but it's not enough.

It's like the Hep A and B shots they have a life span on average of 7 years. Giving those at birth hep B does no good when the kid is actually most at risk. That is why in Canada they don't give it till 12 ish. Our Pedi even came out and said the only reason they do it at birth is because parents won't bring their kids back later. So for many kids it's a now or never and hope they stay protected later when they need it.

The Hillbilly got it when I was pregnant with the Jedi I was hoping the Tornado would get chicken pox though but she didn't

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).
