I went to check on case status and it doesn't say anything about being received, I will call today to check on it!

NVC does not send confirmation for receipt of your documents, for either the documents received from the USCIS or for your IV packet.

It usually takes a week or so for USCIS to post it after approval, then a week or so for NVC to receive the documents and to assign it a Case Number and Invoice Identification Number (IIN).  You can call USCIS to confirm when it was sent, then call NVC starting a a week + after to confirm.

 

If you are referencing the receipt of your IV packet, you will need to call after delivery to confirm what your scan date is.

Just an update: The NVC responded to a question as to when we will get an interview date and we had this response

 

"NVC schedules appointments one month in advance. The U.S. Embassy tells us what dates they are holding interviews, and NVC fills these appointments as they become documentarily qualified. Most appointments are set within three months of NVC’s receipt of all requested documentation. However, before applicants in a numerically limited (preference) visa category can receive an appointment, their priority date must also be current. This can delay receipt of an appointment. You can track your priority date using the Visa Bulletin on travel.state.gov."

 

What priority is the Spouse of a US Citizen? It doesn't seem to say! We just seem to be going around in circles - the US Embassy in London says the NVC schedules the appointment.... the NVC says it is waiting for London to give them a date.... So we are just in complete uncertainty!

 

Has anyone else ever dealt with the US Embassy in London? Any advice/support?

My understanding is that spouses are not in a numerically limited visa category so basically just ignore that. Certain visa categories have a limit of visas they can put out a year but spouses dont count!

We're trying to find out what the hold up is.... it seems (from reading the forums of other filers) once to NVC is done it usually only takes a few days for the interview to get scheduled.... Not sure what is going on with our case since the NVC completed their checks 3 weeks ago!

I was super confused with the whole NVC process. Even through reading all the information about the NVC process it still didn't quite go the way the internet said. When you say that NVC completed their checks, does that mean you are "documentarily qualified"? I had not heard of the term anywhere on this site so it confused me when I got the email informing us we were documentarily qualified. My bet is you'll be hearing soon. It's basically up to the embassy right now, they provide the NVC with dates of interviews then the NVC fills the spots with people who are documentarily qualified (that's how it was was explained to me for interviews in Canada... unsure if its the same process in the UK).

We had to pay with my husband US bank account. You need the routing numbers etc for it. First I tried to pay with a Canadian account but the payment was declined by NVC

Yes, we hVe submitted NVC documents but not police certificate from Iran and we got approved. But I wrote a letter a long with the documents to explain that I'm not able to acquire that and also qouted from the website which is not required and also confirmed by calling NVC. Hope that helps!

Hello here, does anybody has a sample checklist for NVC. we finnally got USCIS approval on August 30. we want to be gathering documents so it will be fast when they eventually send us a checklist.

Hi,

they just stated I am in a queue waiting for the embassy to send how many spots they have available and they will schedule the interviews in order.

I will receive an email as soon as our interview has been scheduled.
