Congratulation!!!

I'd like to ask you a question if you don't mind.

Will you guys file only 2016 tax transcript as NVC official guild says or 3 past years tax transcripts as others commonly do?

My husband's income met the poverty line only in 2016 but not in 2015 and 2014 so I was wondering if I should just sent 2016 tax transcript..

I'll probably also only send this (2016) year's transcript. Maybe I'll send w-2s from the previous 2 years plus my employer letter. I'll have to do a little research. But because I was still legally in my previous marriage for 2014/15, I don't want to confuse things by sending those returns.

In your situation I'd just send this years (2016), if it were me :)

Thank you so much Elleandeff for sharing your opinion. I want to make my file simple and clear as much as I can. So I really want to send only 2016 tax transcript. If we decide to send 2015 and 2014 tax transcripts which don't meet poverty line, we will have to file a joint sponsor which requires extra paper work.

Well! it's time to celebrate before getting into the next step :) I hope you enjoy this moment fully!!

I am not sure if country specific will impact this.. but our son's 2013 and 2014 income was well under the required level, 2015 was close but current income was above. We sent in only the last years transcript (2015) as indicated... perhaps be prepared to take the others if needed, but I am not sure they w2 will be of value to the NVC without the transcripts.

So do you think my husband should submit only 2016 tax transcript (the most recent one which meets the poverty line) ? or will it be safe to submit 2015 and 2014 (which don't meet the poverty line) AND joint sponsor?

I read on NVC official guide says sponsor is asked to submit the recent tax transcript but it seems everybody is reporting 3 past years...

Current ongoing income is required to avoid the need for Joint sponsor... proof of filing the previous 3 years tax returns is a separate issue.... having those 3 years under the guidelines on income doesnt necessarily mean you need a joint sponsor if currrent income is above and secure.

This is a very clear answer. You are right. My husband and I decided to submit only 2016 tax transcript. My husband's income has been gradually increased as your son's case and exceeded poverty line in 2016. Thank you so much for your crystal clear answer. I really appreciate it.

my timeline says 21st- May 8..nothing for me so far but only 4 days into my "estimated processing time"

There are a bunch of us whose estimated processing time has elapsed. For some reason I am stuck in a security background. I wish I knew what factors lead to my extended background check.

I called USCIS and asked to talk to a Tier 2. The estimated wait time to talk to someone was 338 minutes, and that was at 8:05 a.m. Last week I called every day at the same time and the wait time to talk to a Tier 2 was no more than 160 minutes. I'm guessing that May day events are taxing USCIS' resources today.

My NOA1 date is October 6. I was told that a background check was started on April 11, and that is the reason for our delay.

It is hit and miss with the Tier 2s. Once in a blue moon I get someone who will be helpful and honest. I call everyday because I never know when I'll get that helpful person.
