Also, i have another question. I lived in the states with my husband for a few years on a turist visa, coming in and out every 6 months, long story short i came to visit

my parents and when i tried to go back to the states they didnt let me in and i had a withdrawal of application of admissio and told me i could just apply for another visa at any time weather its a tourist visa or the CR-1 since im already married. I wasnt deported, thank god! So i was wondering if any of you guys have ever had a withdrawal of application for admission? The officer and the lawyer told me it shouldnt complicate my case, but i freak out sometimes. Ive been thinking of applying for a tourist visa again to be able

to visit my husband, i also have astable job and finishing college.

I see that alot of people have mentioned that they received something in the mail before receiving an email or an update using the USCIS website. But has anyone gotten a timely email? I am checking the website and my email compulsively and wonder if its just making me go crazy without being worth it. But calling seems to do nothing and I assume any mail would be delayed since I live outside the US.

We have a priority date of October 5, 2016 and the VJ timeline says we should be processed as of today :(

Any thoughts on the timeliness of online updates?

Hey @Lumeyer,

I hope you receive your NOA2 soon! My priority date was October 4, 2016 and my application has been at the Nebraska Service Center the entire time. I received no notification online or via email. On April 14, 2016 I received a postal mail from USCIS containing my NOA2 (notice date was April 10, 2016). At no point did my online status change at all. I was somewhat concerned about this and so called USCIS customer service and spoke to a Tier-2 representative. He basically told me the online system IS NOT OFFICIAL and to basically ignore it, as it often does not get updated. There have been many such cases on VisaJourney of people not receiving any electronic notification. Four days later my online status changed to "You application has been sent to the Department of State". So I think the online status updates can be unreliable. More over, it's the paper copy which truly matters!

The average time as per VisaJourney (an average of all users here) for the Nebraska Service Center is 201 days (~7 months). So yes, on average it is taking people longer than 6 months. You should also keep in mind that everything you see and read here on VisaJourney is on AVERAGE. Every application has it's own quirks; some people are subjected to more extensive background checks which can lead to more delays. Unfortunately, this is beyond your control.

Did you overstay your visa? If you haven't overstayed your visa and you never lied to a customs agent (i.e., you were always 100% honest about your intention to visit your husband), then your lawyer is correct. Your visa withdrawal should have no effect.

You can apply for a new tourist visa, but your chances of getting this may be low. The problem is that to get a tourist visa you need to demonstrate very strong ties to your home country. However, since your husband lives in the US and you've applied for an immigrant visa, it's hard to prove this. But there's no problem in applying and trying! I wish you the best of luck.

Yeah i overstayed my visa for about 3 months, i was going to do an adjusment of status, but i lost my permit and since I always cross the border by land i couldnt get an electronic one so i decided to leave the us and stayed with my parents for a bit and get a new permit... i live in the border of the US and Mexico and been crossing all my life. It was very bad luck, they went through my phone and found out i had a life in the US, i didnt wanna say i was visiting my husband at first, i said i was visiting a cousin in phoenix, az, which was also truth, after they took my phone for about an hr i told them the truth and said i been living in the US for two years with my husband, coming in and out every six months or so. as far as i know they dont ban you from the US if you dont overstay  for less than 6 months
