Hello everyone...:DIt's nice to join you all.. my PD is October 25, 2016.. still waiting for the approval. I filled I-130 petition for my wife. Hoping to get approved soon. My service center is Nebraska... its kinda slow I guess compared to other service center.  Good luck to us.

October 31 here, and I am at Nebraska as well. Seems like the slowest of the bunch? Hopefully April it is.

Thanks for shedding some light on the Tax Situation guys.

I think it's better if you amend and file as MFS since you won't need an ITIN for your spouse. Filing as single could cause problems during nvc stage/interview, that's what our lawyer told us as well. Since I'm currently visiting my husband, I already applied for an ITIN at one of the IRS offices so we'll be filing as MFJ. Better safe than sorry, if you ask me.

EDIT: Also I think filing as single when married might be tax fraud? Even if it's not an issue for the whole immigration process, you could risk being audited.

Thanks for the Guidance on this everyone. You guys have been a lifesaver on this.

TO NVC - I have managed to Fix My returns and file it the right way. Now the only other question, do I send my Amended Tax Return forms, including the 1040X, or just the standard Federal and State returns (Minus the 1040X copies)? Any thoughts?

Thank You.

Just send in a copy of your Amended Tax Return forms to the NVC. It might take a while for the IRS to get back to you on your amended returns.

I just read on a Sept 2016 fliers board that Nebraska is approving cases from around Sept 20!! #fingerscrossed. Our case WS received 10/20 and has stayed in Nebraska the whole time as far as I know.

Thank God cause I just feel so hopeless My PD is October 21 and mines have just been in Nebraska all the time a friend of my husband said his wife filed his in December 2016 and it's approved but of course his went to another service center not Nebraska.

Does anyone know why the USCIS still says August 9 I wonder if they have a system problem or something.

Thats what I am thinking as well. It is extremely discouraging and frustrating.

They are usually 2 months or so behind when they update their system. And last I checked, they haven't been updating it every month either. I am guessing they will update it the next time they have numbers to display. For all we know, it is outdated information as well. For this reason, do not take the Processing Times as an absolute measure. its only a rough ballpark.

That's just a rough estimate of the "oldest cases" they're working on. Obviously, they process applications differently depending on the beneficiary's country, the petitioner's status (usc/lpr), security background checks etc etc. Of course, we've all heard of people filing in..say December and getting approved in Feb. Had they updated their website to display the date of the latest cases they approved they would be getting a massive influx of inquiries because Sept, Oct, Nov petitions would be out of normal processing times. They're just playin it safe, I guess.

haha, in the bottom right corner of every processing times page it says: Last updated: March 14, 2017. I'd hardly call that an update though.
