The only original document he will need from you is the I134; the rest of the documents that you have submitted with your I130 and/or I129F will be forwarded to the embassy. The embassy will mail your fiance a packet of forms that he must fill out and bring with him to his interview. It will take probably up to a month for him to receive his mail from the amman embassy.

Do not send your passport- for sure it is not needed. The consulate can ask for original documents sent in the petition (eg. your birth certificate) but I have yet to see anyone report here that their SO had to show those. Anyone know of a difference experience with Jordan?

Jade-- if you've mailed off the I-129F and I-130, then now you basically will be waiting for a barage of forms to fill out from teh NVC. You don't need to have anything together until the interview and they will give him a checklist of stuff to bring.

Jade-- I don't know if you are doing this already, but what helped me was to go to Office Max (or wherever) and buy a GIANT binder. By Giant I mean 6-inch or bigger. Actually, I got 4. I got the tabs and plastic sleeve inserts and started organizing and labeling everything I possibly could-- phone bills, emails from me from my univeristy account, emails from me from my other account, letters, taxes, toe lint, etc. It all went into the giant binder. I made copies of everything in triplicate, and then had the originals. I spread out originals all over creation in those binders so none of them have anything more than another... and then on the copies I listed where the originals were (original retained by Julianna Lastname or Originals retained by California Service center, etc). One I had submitted to each serivce center (because I was paranoid), and then one for him and one for me. Anyway. So you're past the service center point, so you could do two-- one for you and one for him. Now everything is filed in the binders as it comes and I brought a crapload of stuff for his binder when I went.. and now I have a few more things to send him. This way, when he goes to the interview, and they ask for phone bills, utilities, events by trip, letters from family and friends, etc.. it's all in the binder with a tab-- it's easy to find and easy to flip around and figure out. That's my suggestion :) At this point I think he has about 3 binder's worth of stuff. Lucky him. He'll be taking his evidence back with him, and then we'll have duplicate here.

So anyway, mine looked like this: with the case number and names, etc on the spine:

And then like this on the inside :) (I sent this one either to Chicago or the CSC, not sure) :

Ummmmmmmmmm heeeheee.....

You wanna know something funny? With my I-130, which was approved in 2 months and sent on super-freaking-fast, I sent the following extraneous items:

1. Leaves

2. trash

3. rocks

4. an olive

Of course they corresponded to a trip we took and had some sort of nice caption like "rock from the Red Sea, 11/23/05 Honeymoon" or whatever, but ummm I sent leaves, trash, rocks, and an olive.

For real.

I just decided WTH? Why not? Real people collect real ####### and save it as momentos. So? I do draw the line somewhere, and actually Do throw things out though!

(And as an aside and way too much TMI, we did a fertility test (well my Dh did, scored high and was so proud of himself like he had accomplished something, we did it because of a certain worry connected to his side), and I told him he should bring THAT to the interview and if they said they wanted additional evidence... :) )

(and PPS in case you were worried, he threw it away like a normal person.)

Don't send your *real* passport. DO send a *copy* of it, with all the pages photocopied, even the blank ones. Deemabrouk I think was trying to point out you don't have to send in your original passport. They can theoretically request to see it at some point, but nobody here's ever seen that done. The only original document that you need to send that I can think of is your NOA2, the approval of your visa at the NVC (sorry can't remember the name of the form... I-797 maybe?) Definitely make a few copies of it to keep, though, because replacing it is VERY expensive.
