Hi everyone!

I was selected for further processing in the 2016/17 Fiscal year - super happy with that! I have been in NY on an F1 student visa and I'm just completing my OPT year, which runs out October 14. I'm heading back to Australia on November 1, as they say we have 60 days to adjust status or leave the country. Since my case number is in the early 500's, this won't be happening before I have to leave, but I'm hoping for a December interview time - we shall see what the Bulletin says in a few days.

I have some questions - I've submitted the DS-260 and have collected supporting documents. Is there anything else I need to be doing at this stage? What happens when my number becomes available? Do I have to submit to have the interview or is it scheduled? I thought in the past they have scheduled them but I remember seeing somewhere that this year we have to schedule ourselves.

Thanks for the help!

1. There's no such thing as 2016/17 FY. You're either a 2016 or 2017 FY selectee. So precisely which one are you?

2. Which processing option did you select, CP or AOS?

Okay - Sorry I was confused. 2017 FY - I got mixed up because the process had started in 2016. but 2017 FY!

I originally selected AOS, as I am in NY at the moment finishing my OPT, but I requested to change my interview to Sydney after I realised my interview would likely be after my end date. I received this back from the KCC "Based on the information you have provided, your interview location has been changed from adjustment of status to Sydney"

You'll be automatically scheduled for an interview when your number becomes current, assuming your DS260 has been processed by then (you didn't mention when you submitted it, it can take a few months to process).

There have been cases reported of changes such as you requested not being acted on so if you haven't gotten an interview notification say by 2 weeks after publication of the visa bulletin with your number it, then contact KCC to follow up.

Thank you so much for your help! I submitted the DS260 as soon as the further processing notices were out, but had to make an amendment in June.

I've also heard this before - even from the KCC! So I definitely will hold onto that email.

Sorry, one more question to clarify. Are interviews scheduled for the month on the beginning of that month or the previous month when they release numbers for the following month? ( I know that sounds wordy, but I mean hoe they just released next month's upcoming bulletin)

The normal kind of timeline (not always exact) is that letters are released 1-2 weeks after the bulletin, for the month in which numbers have just been announced - which for DV is 2 (not 1) months ahead. So for example, it's now October and the visa bulletin just released has numbers for December- so by the last week of October (if not a bit earlier), everyone who has an interview in December will know their date.
