Can this be completed while in the Philippines? My wife and I were married in November of 2015 and we are visiting the Philippines this month. Is it possible to file the paperwork somewhere (Manila if possible)? Thanks in advance.

I guess u need to do it while ur abroad coz if shes going to renew her passport while outside PH their asking for Report of marriage... i report it after we got married after couple of months i decided to change my passport surname to married name n report of marriage is one of those requirement that they ask from me... but i really dont know bout wether u can file it while ur in PH

You can do both, file ROM and change your passport name while in the PI. Find a PSA office in the PI and ROM their. Passport is with DFA. Search for their nearest office to you.

Marriage must be recorded through the consulate representing the state you were married in. PSA will not accept your foreign marriage certificate.

Easy to complete ROM through the consulate as it can be done through the mail.

:no: PSA won't accept a foreign marriage certificate. They will need to complete ROM through the consulate representing the state where they were married.

Passport no issue, that can be done at DFA

Visa chase and citizenship.. DONE!

Yes you can do both. If here in the PHil. you do ROM through DFA aseana main office, consular records division, door 5, window 1 BUT this process is longer wait for 2-4 months or longer until your ROM is registered to PSA, then you can get new passport with your married name. However if you'll do it abroad (US) through phil. consulate, you can do ROM & apply for new passport at the same time.

We did our ROM in US back in 2009 and it only took us 6 weeks before i recieve my new passport.

Interesting info about ROM through DFA. That is a long processing time for ROM for sure at DFA

Yes ROM and report of birh is done through DFA. i just found it out when i went there 3 weeks ago for my daughters papers and theres 3 filipinas with there US citizens husband who's doing ROM and I asked them about it. The other lady said that she waited 3 months before she can get the control number, reference number and transmittal date, these are the info that you needed to expedite her ROM to PSA so that she can get PSA marriage cert.

3 months? OUCH!! Much faster to complete ROM while in the USA by mail.

Those three were married in the USA then were back in the Phils before reporting their marriage and updating their passports.... taking the long road for sure.

ROM took a little over a month for us through the consulate.

Those three were married in the USA then were back in the Phils before reporting their marriage and updating their passports.... taking the long road for sure.

ROM took a little over a month for us through the consulate.

They went here for a vacation and They also though that it is faster to process here since it's Phil. but they were wrong and yes you're right it is much faster to do ROM and also ROB in US.
