Hello !

I have a question concerning the I-129f visa

I met my fiancé for real in august 2004 we applied for the I-129f visa in Vermont

I’m from Canada he is US citizen

we just got notice in mail saying it was received and its pending now

to check status on line , which we did , now on line it states that they are

processing applications received in sep 2006 before they can process any resent applications

my question is how long does a person have to wait before they can process applications received in march , when they just process applications from last sept 2006 ?

I did read here that many applicants who send the application to Vermont took

around 5 month from first send until they had the interview date ,

I mean that sounds great and relative fast

but am wondering how can the whole process take 5 month when the on line official US immigration site state they just review cases from last year ?

Any reply would be appreciated LonaD

Vermont processes K-1 visas very quickly in most cases (sometimes as fast as 2 weeks). So, don't worry too much about the processing dates on the USCIS website. They are a "guide" only, and all of our applications were processed before the posted processing dates online.

After your petition is approved at Vermont, it will be sent on to the NVC, then onto the Consulate where your interview will take place. You will have your medical exam done before the interview.

The whole process takes months because of all the other parts of the process, such as the medical exam, gathering the required documents, and then scheduling the interview.

Good luck for a speedy approval.

Hi Lona,

I had the same worries regarding the process Dates shown online by USCIS also. I beleieve the process date shown online by USCIS is actually the last application they recieved that are still in process. (i.e. USCIS are still reviewing cases that have receipt dates from September 2006). Those are the cases that have troubles such as incomplete applications or needs more review. If your application package is complete, then don't worry about it. You will get the NOA2 once it has been approved. Mine was approved in 15 days and took 5 months from sending the I-129 to getting an interview date. Vermont USCIS is usually the fastest so good luck!

The record I have seen for Vermont was 4 days. I was one of the slower ones at about 4 weeks. When you see the date posted that is the oldest one they are working on and probably had some RFE's or problems. Usually 2-3 weeks in VT, 2 days to 14 days in NVC and whatever time the embassy takes for the interview.

Valera, congratulations on your quick passage through the process. I was a week ahead of you in VT and am still stuck in NVC. I am glad you had the success you did and hope you have a happy life together. Maybe one of these days we will get there too, I hope.

12/14/2006 Applied for K-1 with request for Waver for Multiple filings within 2 years.
Waiting - Waiting - Waiting
3/6 Called NVC file sent to Washington for "Administrative Review" Told to call back every few weeks. 7/6 Called NVC, A/R is finished, case on way to Moscow. YAHOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
7/13 On Friday the 13th we see updated Moscow website with our interview on 9/11 (Hope we are not supersticious) 9/11 Visa Approved. Yahoo.
10/12 Tickets for her to America. I am flying to JFK to meet her there. 12/15/07 We are married. One year and a day after filling original K-1
12/27 Filed for AOS, EAD & AP 1/3 Received all three NOA-1's 1/22 Biometrics 2/27 EAD & AP received 4/12 Interview
5/19/08 RFE for physical that she should not have needed. 5/28 New physical ($ 250.00 wasted) 6/23 Green Card received
