Both mine (K-1) and my daughter's (K-2) brown envelopes were sealed when we got them given to us at our medical exams. When we took them to our interview, the interviewer opened them, processed them, and gave them back to us (sealed) to give to the officers at the POE.

Did you get a copy of your vaccination worksheet at your medical exam? It will be needed at the AOS stage.

the only envelope i had was the one that gets sent from the embassy along with your passport when you have been approved. That one SHOULD NOT BE OPENED AT ALL COSTS as I opened it by mistake and was told I wouldnt be able to enter the US. I had to spend a further two weeks in London sending it back to be resealed and sent out again.

sorry I must have misunderstood, I did get an opened envelope containing my x-ray and you should carry this in your hand luggage to POE, in addition to the envelope you will receive when your passport is returned by the courier service from the US London embassy. This envelope is sealed and MUST NOT be opened. It can only be opened by an immigration officer at your POE.

I was told when I got my x-ray back that it's fine if it's packed along with my normal luggage, that it isn't needed at the POE. The envelope for it is massive too, I dunno how they'd expect it to be in hand luggage without bending it...

Nope it isn't needed at POE. There is a full medical report in your brown DO NOT OPEN envelope which has your X-Ray results in it aswell. There is no one at POE medically qualified to look at the x-ray anyway so there is no reason for them to open it. Pack it in your checked luggage and forget about it. Think of it as a souvenir of your visa process....

Posted

honestly i give up with the rules and regulations.....the guy at the embassy told me I must carry my x-ray in my hand luggage in case immigration at the POE want to see it. Nobody asked to see it and yes its a bloody big envelope to try and squash into your hand luggage. One day someone will see the benefit to writing a full procedures manual for visa holders. Until that time we have visa journey.

What I was told about my x-ray at my interview was "you can put it in your suitcase or you can throw it in the bin, whichever you prefer".

It's in my suitcase now! It's the only thing I've packed (actually, that's a lie - the brown envelope is in my otherwise empty carry-on), but it's a start!

They told me (the embassy) that I could put the x-ray in with my luggage, I didn't have to have it to carry on. They sent the brown packet, that says not to open on it, with my passport when they sent the visa.

Should I have a copy of my medical results, my vaccinations and everything? I thought that would be in the brown packet and I would get it after POE. Am I wrong? Should I try and get that from Knightsbridge before I leave next week?
