Hi, i have a 2 simple questions regarding the citizenship process, i appreciate your help

I came to USA on 02/02/2014, when i will be eligible to apply for citizenship? or when the 90 days will start?

Do i must be working while i'm applying?

You may file Form N-400 ninety (90) calendar days before you complete your permanent residence requirement if your eligibility for naturalization is based upon being a:

  • Permanent resident for at least 5 years; or
  • Permanent resident for at least 3 years if you are married to a US citizen.

If you're still married to the spouse that sponsored you for your immigration, you can apply in the 90-day window before the 3-year anniversary of your arrival to the U.S.

The earliest you can submit your naturalization paperwork is November 4, 2016. Here's the link: https://www.uscis.gov/sites/default/files/dateCalculator.html

Good luck!

@joliejolie: That's because you plug in first the date that's 3 years from the time you entered, not the date you entered. So in that first box, you'd enter 02/02/2017....because that's 3 years after your entry. Ok?

No issue if you don't have a job.

You do not have to be employed to apply for citizenship. There is no employment requirement.
