Congressmen\Senators usually staff immigration liaisons in their office who send out boilerplate inquiries to US consular posts on behalf of their constituents. Once the embassy\consulate responds with standard reasons for the delay or denial, that's pretty much it. Not worth it for a B2 IMO, but if a constituent approaches their congressional rep, the officeholder is duty bound to provide assistance.

An existing good travel history is probably the best ammunition when applying for a tourist visa, among all the other considerations. Seeking help from elected officials is almost certainly fruitless.

I was told by Senator that they can make an inquiry and get same answers as we get but they have no control over immigration as it does not depend on the Federal budget / it is solely paid for by our fees

i had written to and given him the paper to disclose information but he could not really help

he was a help at the end for the interview thru an email to the embassy

i know that another on here wrote to congressmen (both senators and house of rep), the President, the Secretary of State / she recieved polite letters but no help

The magic letter that makes the CO grant tourist visa to foreigners unconditionally?

My friend's mother and sister from Russia were denied a tourist visa to attend her US wedding. After reaching out to their senator, they sent a letter requesting that the CO take due consideration of their application. They applied again and were both granted visas. They did have strong ties to the home country, though; it's just that the first time around the CO was not convinced.

That's the thing - sometimes it works, sometimes it does absolutely no good. You never know. The only harm if you try, though, is that you are out the cost of applying for the visa, so why not just give it a go?
