Hi Guys,

I have been a silent reader of this forum for months, so I finally decided to give my contribution. I am sorry if I didn't update you throughout all my steps. This is such a supportive and informative community so thank you all about that.

30 Sep 2016 - Mailed package (I-130,765,465)

Day 0 :     03 Oct 2016 - Received by USCIS
Day 11:    14 Oct 2016 - Received SMS/e-mail w/ rec nr
Day 19:    22 Oct 2016 - Received NOA1 with date: 3 Oct
Day 25:    28 Oct 2016 - Received biometrics appointment
Day 37:    09 Nov 2016 - Biometrics walk-in
Day 66:    08 Dec 2016 - Your new EAD card is being produced

Day 76:    18 Dec 2016 - Received EAD in mail

Hugeeee silence and waiting games

Day 180: 06 Apr 2017 Interview scheduled for may 10th

Day 214: 10 Apr 2017 Interview (Very chill at the Lawrence MA office, approved on the spot. I had 2 giant folders full of stuff she didn't need anything... and I thought that we didn't submit enough things at the beggining.)

Now waiting for GC in the mail. It should come in the following weeks they said.

P.s. to the friends part of the community this was a same-sex marriage. We applied less than a month after the marriage. Our story was new (~1yr) so we were kinda worried.. but no red flags means very smooth process.

P.s.2. The whole paperwork might seem overwhelming but you can do it. We didn't hire a lawyer. Do not spend thousands of $$, you can do it yourself.

I am here to answer any questions!

Best of luck to all of you that are waiting!

Hey! Congrats on your approval! My only question is about the officer's attitude- was he/she polite enough not to notice any difference between your couple and "traditional" couples?

It was a lady. She was very professional but at the same time pretty informal. She had a super positive attitude. She was nice, made jokes and explained us how this was something she had to be done with.

I haven't been in a "straight" / "traditional" interview to tell the difference, but nothing related to being gay was brought up. (I was kinda anxious about the "who knows about this?" kind of questions, but if you are in a real relationship, I am gonna guess they don't actually care who knows, unless you bring up lots of red flags)

Let me know if you have any other questions, I would be happy to answer them!

oh that sucks.. waiting is hard, especially when you don't know whats going on. i feel my service request sped up the response to my case.

maybe try one of the other options some of the folks here did - like calling your councilman?

hope you get something soon :)

I feel for you!  I know our timelines were really similar, and can't wait for you to also get your approval very soon!  Waiting is such torture.  If possible, try to distract yourself with extra hobbies, work or volunteer work.  The weeks we were busiest were the easiest to wait.  Also, you can contact your representatives to ask them to make an inquiry on your behalf.

K1

Spoiler

12/18/2015- NOA 1

1/29/2016- NOA 2

2/18/2016- Letter from NVC saying they're forwarding to Guangzhou

3/4/2016- Received P3, returned it about a week later

3/22/2016- P4 email

5/12/16- Interview. Approved!

5/16/16- After a few days saying administrative processing, CEAC now says issued!

Additional snafu: my fiancé came over on his visa, but just a month later (and the day before we were going to get married) he had an emergency that necessitated him returning to China.  I contacted the Guangzhou consulate via their email system, provided the requested documents/proof, and he was granted a second interview for "reissuance."  He had to re-do the medical, redo the interview (bringing yet another copy of all of the things he had to bring the first time) and we were approved again!  He received what looked like a new visa in his passport, but the original 90 day countdown for marriage was still ticking.  He came back to the US and we got married right away!

8/22/16- Married!

AOS

9/30/16- Filed for AOS, EA, AP

10/6/16- NOA 1 for AOS, EA, and AP (USCIS case status website says case was received on October 4th)

11/9/16- Bio appointment

12/13/16- EA and AP approved!

no news... case status on website still says "fingerprint fee received..."

4/11/17- submitted online service request for case out of normal processing time (over 6 months)

5/2/17- USCIS website updated to "My card is being produced!"

5/10/17- Green Card received

ROC

3/2/19- Filed ROC

3/8/19- NOA/18mo extension received

5/7/19- Bio appointment

9/2/20- Interview scheduled for next month!
