AOS October 2016 filers

I posted a couple of weeks ago that we have not had any activity on our I-485 since mid-December when our response to RFIE was received. As of today it still says Response to RFE received 12/16/2016. We did receive EAD/AP card in January so that's good. When I check the status of all of the other VJ-ers who filed in Oct. going thru the Kansas City office all have received their GCs in January except us. Now I'm starting to get worried that our file may be lost or something. I tried to file a service request but it says within normal processing times. Would it be a good idea to contact my Congressman/Senator to make an inquiry for us? I'm thinking, if nothing else it will prompt someone to locate the file.

Depends on how long you're married for. If less than two years, the green card will be valid for two years (usually after approval of the i485 but sometimes after the filing date, you'll have to wait

Just got confirmation that my I756 EA cards are being produced! Now hopefully also the AP card will get done soon!

05 May 2020: Application submitted online

06 May 2020: NOA received

28 Sep 2020: Biometric reuse notification

28 Oct 2020: Interview scheduled for 02 Dec 2020 (online notification)

02 Dec 2020: Interview at 9 am in Lawrence, MA (approved)

02 Dec 2020: Naturalization Oath Ceremony

16 Feb 2019: Received NOA (18 month extenstion letter) from Vermont Service Center

09 Mar 2019: Biometrics appointment letter received

18 Mar 2019: Biometrics appointment

11 Mar 2020: Green Card approved

13 Mar 2020: Card was mailed to me

18 Mar 2020: Received my 10 year Green Card 😀

Our timelines are very similar , Responce to RFE received in December, got EAD in January and nothing since. I also have been trying to put in service request once a week and it always comes back with "case within processing times...." yesterday I tried something different. I put in a service request for "didn't receive a notice.... that being my scheduled interview, in hopes that if nothing else it will prompt someone to locate our file ... here's hoping !

We are in the same timelines as you, Initial docs sent start of 10/2016, RFE was received and documents submitted were received end of 10/2016. I received EAD in Dec 2016 but nothing else apart from that.

Where do you put the service request?

Its the same page you put in an inquiry. I had been trying to use the option "case outside normal processing time" but the system wouldn't let me. So I tried the "Did not receive notice by mail" and it did let me send the request.

I'm from Boston! 

F-1 visa/status, F2A category - child under 21 yrs old of permanent resident

AOS (i485, i131, i765) package received October 7th 2016

Biometrics appointment November 22nd but did walk-in November 16th

service request December 21st (75th day) - answer case within current processing time

January 6th service request online (91st day)

got answer on January 12th that my case is on hold because they sent me RFIE on November 3rd and I haven't answered yet...I never got any letter, no updates on website, when I was calling them no one told me that they are waiting for answer for RFIE, they kept saying my case is under review

january 26th USCIS received my answer for RFIE

March 10th EAD/AP approved 

March 17th combo card mailed

March 22nd combo card received

I'm an august filer, oct rife and still stuck on rfie recieved. So don't stress too much.

RFIE's reset the complete clock for all petitions. So also the I-485 is affected and remember that it can take up to a year to adjust status.

01/13/2016: I-129F filed  07/15/2016: K-1 visa in hand

Thats what I thought. But the service center said it didn't. And I got the ead and ap just over a month later

no it does not reset the clock. RFE means that they got to your petition and had some questions/concerns, once the response is received, those are prioritized. Just spoke to L2 USCIS office, and he confirmed.

There is a difference between RFIE and RFE. The confirmation by the USCIS officer was probably in regards to an RFE
