I found an NVC flowchart that suggested I needed to call to give them my email address. It seems that email is important because things happen very fast when NVC receives the package.

Will they not take the email off of the G-1145? I did not find anything that was directly on point to this question.

Posting here because the NVC forum has so many visa types it addresses.

Hm....where did you see this flowchart? I think the email address that you put on your forms is what they will contact you with. At least.....that was the case for me. Both my husband and I received emails throughout the process. It couldn't hurt to call and double check I suppose. Better to have peace of mind. Good luck!

The flowchart is here. For CR-1

https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B9bvTEwLyHz1LVQ5enFjMmc4YXM/view

"You won't get correspondence from NVC when they receive your case from USCIS. You need to call an operator at NVC to find this out."

Is CR-1 that different?

If they email - why so much discussion on calling after two weeks?

Dunno what to tell you dude. My husband and I did not run into any problems about email addresses. We got our emails just fine after we included them in our forms.?

Like I said, if you're not sure.... Call them and ask. It can't hurt. Don't stress yourself so much and try to stay away from the horror stories here. Trust me, I know because they were making ME paranoid during the process too.

Just follow the instructions given to you. Those are the only ones that matter.

It's different from the K-1. All the discussion about calling after 2 weeks is to try knocking off a few days in the timeline. CR-1 takes much longer than K-1. I see you got your NOA2. Congrats! The timeline for the K-1 is much faster once NVC has your case file.

K-1 Visas can call the NVC and update the email or add an email for the beneficiary only BEFORE it leaves the NVC. I called them and this is what they told me. They still haven't received our approved petition yet, but they did tell me that once they receive it you can add an email for the beneficiary if it wasn't provided previously.

Hope this helps!

The embassy will use whatever email they've got to contact the beneficiary, doesn't matter if it's the petitioner's or the beneficiary's. My fiancé (who is the USC) got the checklist from the embassy sent to his email and he just forwarded it to me - you can just do the same.

I kinda wanted to add my email as well but our case was only at NVC for less than a day so there was no time.

So it is a K1 visa. I called Tuesday and got my case number. Showed at NVC for 4 days now.

Does the embassy update the status when they receive the file? Is the reliability of the status after "At NVC" embassy specific?

Does NVC send anything for a K1 visa?

Is there any way to learn when NVC actually received the file, sent the file and the embassy received the file? These are all entrties on the timeline.

The status will say "In transit" once NVC sends it. It'll say "Ready" when the embassy has received it.

NVC sends a letter to the USC, not everyone gets this letter though.

You learn when NVC received your file when you call to ask about your case number (you ask about when they received it at the same time). You'll see when they sent the file when your status says "In Transit", and then "Ready" when the embassy has received it.

Just tried to call NVC just am automated answer about agents being busy but no options to choose and call dsiconnects. Does this usually happen when there is heavy volume of callers?

With regards to your question, If you feel comfortable to send that email address even if it included already in your G-1145, just email them. :)
