so guys, my joint sponsor is currently unemployed and will begin to receive his pension when he turns 55 in august of next year.

He will be sponsoring through assets, but I would advise him to use his savings account because it's easier to prove.

I read the if the someone is sponsoring their spouse the value needs to be 3x 125% of the poverty guideline for the household. Is this applicable for the joint sponsor as well even though she is not his spouse?

The total net value of assets, less liens and liabilities against them, must equal five times the difference between the sponsor's income and 125% of the poverty level for the household size.

Sponsors of spouses and children of U.S. citizens must only prove assets valued at three times the difference between the poverty guideline and actual household income.

I believe that puts him in the 90k dollars vicinity... does his total balance have to have been at least that amount for the past 12 months? at no point dropping below that?
