Hi there! I am in some dire need of advice. I am hitting 6 months with my IR1 I-130 petition at the Nebraska service center, I keep getting the runaround about whether or not my RFE was sent or just ordered and honestly at this point I don't know what more I can do.

What is the best way to contact my senator or congressman while living abroad?

Thanks.

who is supposed to send your RFE response on your behalf? And how long ago was it sent?

You can google your congressman or woman. Go to his or her personal page and send a message through there. You should get an email from an immigration liasion or you can just call to speak to that person.

But on a personal note, your case is still within the processing time so there isn't much your congressman or woman can do.

It took us almost month to figure out away to get the rfe. So best thing is to call uscis request supervisor. Tell them you calling from Egypt. So they put you fast and not on hold. . Tell them what happen and straight ask them to fax it . Like how I told you guys before and that's how we got it. Efax website. . And I'm sure contact with congressman will help. But I think Efax would be faster. . That's how we got it. Once we replied the rfe we got approved in two weeks. . Hopefully you guys get it done. Wish you all the best.

So here it is; I called them Sept 7 just to check on my petition since it had been exactly 5 months and had not had any updates. I was told by tier 2 that an RFE was sent on August 25th. I asked her if they had mailed it and she said yes. There was an issue about the address as she said they do not mail outside the US, but since I had received my original I-797 NOA-1 in the mail in Egypt, then I may receive it. She told me to call at the end of Sept if I did not receive it and I could have it faxed or mailed to an US address.

I never did. So I called Sept 30th. This time I was told by tier 2, that their 'system' said that the RFE was only 'ordered' and not 'sent', so she said she had to put in a service request. And that she could not fax it to me or try mailing it to a US address as it never showed it was mailed in the first place.

I purchased an efax # and was hoping to use it.. maybe will be still be able too. I am planning on calling tomorrow to speak to a supervisor. I checked my case status and received a notice that a service request was made, but it is not assigned for processing, since Sept 30.

I just think there is more I can do then just waiting out another month for a response. That's why I'm considering all available options.

Yeah we bought the efax # like you had advised. It works as we tried it :) We'll see what they say tomorrow. I will call them early. I just hope they actually let me speak to a supervisor, because I read before that sometimes they won't. Thanks for your advice and support.

Yes I'll call tomorrow. That's why I got worried, because when I spoke to Tier 2 on Sept 7, she told me that it has 90 days until it expires. God Willing we'll get this faxed.

Here is my two cents. I had a similar situation with RFE for my I-130 petition. Luckily I got a good supervisor who given me their fax number to fax the necessary document. My I-130 was approved after one week of faxing the document. Just call them and ask which document you were missing and directly fax it. This is the fast way to get it to the correct supervisor.

Good Luck!!

Good Luck!!

I called this morning (afternoon my time), and just received the call back. The Tier 2 I spoke to would not transfer me to a supervisor. He was very rude once I requested to speak to a supervisor, he said that my RFE was never sent, only ordered and I just have to wait. I asked him that I would like to speak to a supervisor as the RFE was ordered on the 25th of August and I would like to get it faxed to me. He said no and said again that it was never sent and that I just have to wait for it to be sent and hung up on me.

I don't know what to do?? Should I call back again today hoping to get someone else who may forward me to a supervisor?

Maybe it should be a split topic because it's really on how to solve an issue with an RFE on my IR-1 I-130, that was claimed to be sent on August 25th, but then I was told it was never sent only ordered. All this time I'm getting the runaround and didn't really know what to do. I called again to speak to a supervisor yesterday and was denied a transfer to speak to a supervisor. They keep telling me the same thing, that it's only ordered, it's not sent, I have to wait until it's sent. It's been since August 25th since it's been ordered and I need some clarification.. That's why in the original post I was seeking advice on contacting congressman or senators in regards to this issue with the RFE. I did send emails to both senators and the congressman for the region I'll be residing in, yesterday, after Tier 2 would not allow me to speak to a supervisor about my case.
