You may be able to get a waiver for the flu vaccine because you were not well enough for your Dr to approve it. You will have to provide them a statement from your Dr that states he recommended you not have it now.

The worst case scenario is that it would delay a bit until you are well enough to receive the flu vaccine, but I am not 100% on that. I mainly know the requirements for K-1 which is to get them to help with AOS, but since you are a Spousal visa your medical is included since you will get your Green Card once you get here.

Hopefully JFH can shed more light!

Hey Thank you for your reply

I have just spoken my doctor to see if I could have the fly vaccine but they advised against it as I have been suffering with a chest infection and would need to be free of that infection for the flu shot can be given. Will this effect my medical this afternoon or is it worth just going go the chemist to get it there if it is essential?thanks

Thanks :-)

If you have viral or bacterial pneumonia I would be more concerned that your infection may delay you. If they do a chest X-ray as part of routine screening and there is a focal consolidation they may not clear you. It depends on their threshold when it comes to screening for Tb with the CXR. You may need a quantiferon (blood Tb test) or more likey a PPD with follow-up prior to them clearing you if your chest X-ray is not normal. A screening X-ray really only works when you are asymptomatic and aren't actively sick (Technically Tb would look different on a CXR than viral, atypical or bacterial pneumonia but since it's open to interpretation they are unlikely to take a risk with a abnormal CXR).

For the flu vaccine you could bring a note from your doctor, or likely the doctors at Knightsbridge can also provide you with a note saying that you aren't well enough for the vaccine at this time.

As for the prior person's question regarding influenza vaccination - You need a new one for this season. I don't know off the top of my head if they have changed it significantly (some years they actually make no changes because the expected flu strains are the same) but it's seasonal, not annual. Kind of scary (or sad?) that your GP doesn't understand that distinction.
