I had my interview today everything went well, but because my husband is retired (70) the CO asked for a joint sponsor as my husband's income is not enough to support us , he gave me a white paper with the embassy address and a tick next to the missing document : Joint sponsor and Tax returns form 1040 ,

The question is : My sister is Canadian , resides in Ontario , Can she be a joint sponsor ? in case my husband could not get one

A joint sponsor can be any U.S. citizen, U.S. national, or lawful permanent resident who is at least 18 years old, domiciled in the United States, or its territories or possessions, and willing to be held jointly liable with the petitioner for the support of the intending immigrant.

A joint sponsor does not have to be related to the petitioning sponsor or the intending immigrant

Actually the income has to cover the sponsors household, any prior sponsored aliens and the aliens to be sponsored ( not the entire household the to be sponsored alien in living in )

Hi everybody

Now my American husband told me that he can not get a joint sponsor because he is a man of dignity and he can not stand asking somebody else to be a joint sponsor to support his own family , during the interview the CO told me that everything is ok and asked us to get that joint sponsor and the visa will be issued. we started the process in 2014 it took to year to in interview

what can we do now , how can we get a joint sponsor ?

You get a joint sponsor by finding someone who will sponsor you, that's really all you can do.

I'd talk to your husband, dignity or not, I think it's insane and you have ONE road block and he's refusing to pass it because of pride. Find out if there are any other reasons he may be against a joint sponsor, maybe he just has no one he can ask and he'd rather say he's holding onto his dignity than to admit he doesn't know what to do.

Talk to your husband, if it's a pride thing then he's picking his pride over you at the end of the day. If it's him being shamed that he can't find anyone, just try to wait it with him and see if ya'll can find someone.



Also, as long as your husband is paying for your needs and your home, the joint sponsor won't be supporting ya'll. The joint sponsor should be considered security that your husband will make sure he can take care of ya'll, not someone that IS taking care of ya'll.

If your husband refuses to get a co=sponsor, then there are two other options:

- He gets a second job to make ends meet.

- You two abandon the visa and he moves to live with you in Egypt.

They can be friends or family AS LONG as they are USC or LPR in the US.

We had our friend in Washington be one of our cosponsors, we live in Texas. They had no problem accepting her documents as she made way more than needed.

if he has a dignity and pride issues then ask him to find new job with better pay or search for part time jobs..
