My fiancé had his interview today. They gave him a letter stating this...

"After reviewing all documents and information presented, you have been found ineligible to receive a visa. This office has decided to return your case to the Department of Homeland Security with our recommendation that the petition be revoked."

What does this mean? Have we been denied or do they just need more information? I'm so heartbroken and scared! Please help!

It means your fiance visa has been denied, you need to determine the reason for the refusal

If it was some doubt about your relationship, you could try to contact the embassy RIGHT NOW and see if they would grant a second interview with you present. This is a long shot, but it is possible it might work.

The general course of action for now is to overcome the reason for refusal, get married and start the process for a CR1 visa. You can try for a second K1 as well, although in general CR1 visas are better in this situation.

The only thing he said was that they didn't think it was a real relationship. I don't know how! We had lots of pics together, my boarding passes when I went there to visit, chat logs, all my financial information, etc. I don't understand how they denied him! This process has been so easy for us up to this point!! I cant afford to fly to Dakar for another interview

Then at this point it seems they are doubting that you are in a serious relationship, plan more visits more face-time, and probably a wedding too

then file for a CR1

I went there for about a week and a half! And yes only once because I couldn't take off more time from work

I think this also was taking in to consideration since it's not an easy embassy.

If you want this then you'll have to go.

Use they money from the ticket you guys would have used for him to get here after visa.

Write them and ask if they will do a second interview with you there. If they will and that one is denied then get married before you leave and file the CR-1 visa. remember more pictures from this trip and pictures with his family and friends would be a very good idea too.

He said that the lady said she will talk to me and asked for his phone number. What does this all mean? Ugh!!

If she asked for you phone number they might give you a call. But you need to act now before they send the petition back if you want to try a second interview.

Not everyone understands that some only need a visit, even if it is for a week and a half. To them, they want to see many visits, meeting family and friends, co-mingling of things (accounts, finances), going to events together. I had a few questions about my marriage during my interview, because we only met 3 times and married, but he stayed in Canada with me and we co-mingled our accounts.

Just take the time to see if you can visit again, or he can come see you. We all work and we all have limited time off, so there are ways to make it work!
