Hi,

I am applying under F1 as the son of a USC. I had my interview at the Montreal Consulate on September 12th, was approved, and a 221(g) was not issued. I was told to wait two weeks to receive my Visa/Passport through courier. The two weeks have come and gone, with no visa in sight. The status update date has changed a couple of times, but the status itself has not shown anything other than “Ready”. I e-mailed the embassy and a full week has passed by with no response. I am very disappointed in the long wait time, and am getting a little worried as to what’s going on. Any idea whats going on here?? Is this normal?

Thanks in advance!

That is quite unusual.

Is there any red flags in your case, such as are you originally from a country that usually gets security check AP?

I would have your dad, as the USC, contact the embassy once it's been a month since the interview.

3 weeks isnt much of a wait. Try using the public inquiry form again.

Yes, I'm originally from a country that gets security checked rigorously. That I can understand, if is the cause of the delay. But I didn't think it would be an issue because I was born there and left at a very young age.

It just seems excessive because its beyond the time frame the CO provided. I was told 2 weeks until I get my visa via courier

Thats not set in stone. You're originally from a country with AP security checks. Your visa will take much longer than a several generation Canadian.

Do you recommend I contact the embassy?

You can contact the Montreal consulate through the public inquiry but they probably won't be able to tell you much if anything at all. You just have to wait it out. If it goes on for more than 6 weeks, then I suggest having your petitioner contact their senator.

Okay, so I sent them an email and again all that upfated was the status update date. It is still showing READY and that hasn't changed at all. I just don't understand why it wont go to AP or issued.
