We filed for AOS last Feb. and have been waiting. Immigration official at airport told us wife was approved and just waiting for Permanent green card. The official at the airport saw us as we came back from visiting her family in the Dominican Republic. He told us not to worry that he can see on his computer that she is approved. This was in June. So why now did we get a letter telling us to come into office and to bring all supporting documents? Is this normal?

What is EAD/AP? Wife and I just received a letter telling us to come into immigration office. I am hearing that most members do not have to go to meet with immigration that the permanent residence is automatic unless they are suspicious. We are waiting for her permanent residence card and then this happened.

When filing for AOS (form I485), did your wife also file for a work permit (EAD, form I765) and advance parole/travel permit (AP, form I131)? I'm asking since she was travelling abroad?

It's not correct that "most members" do not need an interview. Some get an interview, some don't. It's mostly random.

Please fill in your timeline for K1 and AOS - as it makes it easier to help you and supports the online community in generating statistics. Thanks!

So border control told me you got approved a few months ago??? If that was the case that you really were approved you should of recieved your approval letter a few weeks after the approval took places the fact you have yet to receive the approval letter and the teen card says to me the officer read your wife's information incorrectly cause that an abnormal amount of time to pass without receiving anything in the mail after the approval... your suppose to receive the approval AND the card within 30days of it being approved... it's extremely common to get an interview with immigration there is only a select few visa that have a 50/50 chance of no interview so. Some visa it's mandatory to get an interview so that's completely normal to have an interview it doesn't mean anything bad it's just extremely normal so don't freak out... call uscis ask to be transferred to a tier 2 officer and tell them at POE they told you that your wife was approved but a few moths have past and you've recieved nothing in the mail they will be able tot will you if you really had been approved or if the officer at port of entry read your file incorrectly... my hunch is that the officer at port of entry misread your file

We are CR-1 She already has green card and entered country 2.5 years ago. Her card expired last Feb. and USCIS issued a travel letter. We visited her family 4 times since she has been here. Thanks

I feel the same way. I told my wife when we were in airport that that guy was just blowing hot air. I guess we will find out more this week for our interview. Thank you

Then you shouldn't have filed for AOS. Could you tell us what papers you did file?

You have to tell you exact timeline if you want help!

Is it the removal of conditions on the 2 year green card you are talking about (ROC)??

Yes removal of conditions. We are CR-1 not K visas

Yes that's what A'n'L was trying to say you shouldn't have done AOS. So what papers did you file so we can find out if you filed the right ones and just call it the wrong name or you actually filed the wrong ones.

Ok so we went to immigration appointment today at 7 this morning. We were first to be called and interview went smooth. Lasted no more than 15 minutes. Officer was very polite and respectful. He looked through our file asked some general questions and he told us our case looks straight forward and will make his decision this week. He said that he does not see a problem and wife should be getting her 10 year permanent residence card within in 2 months. By the way we are lifting her conditions he told us. Not AOS.
